Said to be a prototype version of the mom bomb created to guard the treasures lying within the Stilshrine. This strain, as yet unrecorded in the Camp annals, is hunted in the Stilshrine of Miriam.

Requirement
Template:Cropped Image To find the Matriarch Bomb, as well as the enemy Oiling, the player needs to locate the hidden passage in Ward of the Sword-King. To find it, the player should head south to where Darkmare stands in waiting. The western wall here is where the hidden passage is located. When the player stands in front of the western wall for a few seconds, the wall will vanish and reveal a hidden stairway leading up. The player can try to move the game camera inside the wall to reveal it. The player should cast Float on the party, as the last hidden area has a trap that immediately applies berserk and confuse and is otherwise impossible to avoid.
The Matriarch Bomb has a 20% chance to spawn in the final area, along with a one time only treasure that can contain either a Dark Matter or a Shell Shield.
Battle
The party should be equipped with Fire-resisting gears, such as the Flame Shield or Adamant Vest/Hat to halve its Fire-based attacks and Fira magick. Its attack occasionally inflicts Oil, which could be trouble for the party if the Oilings in the same area cast Fire.

The name "Matriarch" denotes a social organizational form in which the mother or oldest female heads the family and descent and relationship are determined through the female line. In other words, women would dominate, being the heiresses or having the most powerful social or political positions.
