Maria is a minor character in Final Fantasy XV and Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV. She is a servant of House Fleuret, the royal family of Tenebrae.
Profile[]
Appearance[]
Maria is an old woman with long gray hair in pony-tail and blue eyes. She wears old fashioned gray and blue dress with striped pattern.
Personality[]
Maria is loyal to House Fleuret, and has dutifully served Lunafreya Nox Fleuret and Ravus Nox Fleuret after their parents' passing. She trusts Lunafreya's intuition as the Oracle and wants to support her.
Story[]
Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV[]
Maria appears when Lunafreya is ready to run away from the Fenestala Manor. Maria helps her out and leaves the back door open, but Lunafreya's plans are set back as her brother, Ravus, stops her.
Final Fantasy XV[]

Noctis Lucis Caelum meets Maria in Tenebrae when he is on the way to Gralea. She recognizes him, but the prince cannot remember her because he was but a kid when he was in Tenebrae last time. Maria tells him that Lunafreya risked her life to get Ring of the Lucii for him from burned Insomnia. Noctis puts her mind at ease, saying that Luna gave him the Ring. Maria is relieved and mentions that Ravus will be glad as well. She tells Noctis about Ravus standing on Lunafreya's side and that he has always supported her as his sister. She tells Noctis that his father's glaive is in Ravus's safekeeping, and that—according to Ravus—Lunafreya's dog Pryna passed away.[note 1]
Etymology[]
Maria is a female given name in many diverse cultures. It became popular with the spread of Christianity as a Latinized form of the Hebrew name of Jesus' mother Mary (Miriam in Hebrew). The meaning of the name is uncertain, but it may originally be an Egyptian name, probably derived from "mry" (beloved) or "mr" (love) ("eminent lady" or "beloved lady"), although it was used in Europe even before the establishment of Christianity as a female form of the Roman name Marius.
In Latin, maria can be roughly translated as "from the sea".
Notes[]
- ↑ In the 1.00 version of the game, Maria doesn't mention Pryna.
