Ability
Job action
Effects
  • Restores 30% of max MP
  • Ignores the MP restoration penalty of Astral Fire

Use[]

Manafont restores 30% of the Black Mage's maximum MP. With MP standardized to 10,000 for all disciplines as of Shadowbringers, this equates to 3,000 MP in most situations. Manafont is best used during Astral Fire, as passive MP recovery is disabled in this state.

As Astral Fire is a Black Mage's high damage phase, extending it with Manafont can greatly improve the Black Mage's DPS. The Black Mages' most powerful fire spells, Flare Flare and Despair Despair, consume all of the Black Mage's current MP, generally preventing repeated uses during Astral Fire. Using Manafont can allow for an extra cast of these spells, as well as some others beforehand. Flare and Despair only require 800 MP to cast, giving the player an extra 2,200 MP to work with.

Manafont is an instant cast off-global cooldown (oGCD) ability. This allows players to weave it between global cooldowns (GCD) after using instant spells such as Scathe Scathe.

Behind the scenes[]

FFXIV ARR Convert

The removed Convert ability in version 2.0.

Manafont was previously known as Convert (コンバート, Konbāto?), being based on the Red Mage ability from Final Fantasy XI. When used, it would restore a percentage of the player's MP, but at the cost of sacrificing some HP. The ability was revamped into Manafront at the launch of the Shadowbringers expansion, which removed the HP cost of the skill and changed the ability's animation.
