The Malboro, also known as the Molbor or Mulbor, is an enemy from Final Fantasy II.
Like their counterparts, Malboros are able to inflict status ailments with their base physical attacks, with the default variant having a chance to inflict Paralysis. Players should take caution and attempt to defeat Malboros as quickly as possible. In the Pixel Remaster release, Malboros now have a 100% chance of inflicting Paralysis with their physical attacks, making them a more serious threat.
[view·edit·purge]"Malboro" may derive from the Japanese onomatopoeia boro, the sound of an upset stomach. The word mal means "something bad" or "illness". The name could also be a reference to Marlboro Cigarettes, since the creatures often spew horrid fumes.
