Game appearances
Final Fantasy IV
The "Main Theme of FINAL FANTASY IV" plays as the player travels the Overworld world map; but it has also several arrangements in the soundtrack, and its theme is included in some tracks:
"Theme of Sorrow" is one of the earliest arrangements heard, and plays during mournful moments, such as the death of Anna; "Paladin", which plays when Cecil Harvey is converted into a Paladin, is a short arrangement; and "Land of Dwarves", which plays at the Underworld's world map, is another arrangement of the main theme. The "Ending Theme" includes several elements of this theme. The above tracks were further rearranged by Junya Nakano for the soundtrack of the 3D remake. The main theme was also included in the game's opening theme, composed by Junya Nakano as well.
The main theme plays out at the beginning and in the end, and this key point is something the game's scenario writer, Takashi Tokita, feels most proud of. In the section with the Tower of Babil where everyone comes together, the developers initially wanted use the main theme, but it was decided it wouldn't give the same effect, so it was cut out from that section and kept for the ending.[1]
