Magnify materia is a Support Materia Support Materia in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. It can be linked with Magic Materia Magic Materia to increase the range of spells and allow them to hit multiple targets with the cost of reduced efficacy. It can be used both with offensive magic materia to hit multiple enemies, or defensive magic materia to apply healing or statuses to all allies.

Unlike in Final Fantasy VII Remake, in which the player could only find one magnify materia orb, many more magnify materia orbs can be obtained in VII Rebirth.

Obtained[]

Magnify found on Nibel from FFVII Rebirth

Magnify materia found on Mt. Nibel in the prologue.

A magnify materia is found in the prologue "Fall of a Hero", but nothing done or found in this chapter carries on to the rest of the game. A magnifying materia is found in the Northern Ridge area of Mt. Nibel, reached after Gnipahellir Ravin; after crossing wooden planks, the player can climb down the left side of the cliff to find it.

Cait Sith joins the party in chapter 8, "All That Glitters", with a magnify materia equipped.

Another magnify materia is earned for completing the "Victim of Circumstance" odd job in the Cosmo Region from chapter 12, "A Golden Key".

A magnify materia is also a reward for completing "Brutal Challenge: Hellions' Intonement" in Chadley's combat simulator. Brutal challenges become available after defeating Gilgamesh. To unlock "Hellions' Intonement", the player needs to complete "Brutal Challenge: Unending Nightmare" and also defeat the Tonberry King in the Corel Region.

Use[]

Magnify materia allows spells to hit multiple enemies or the entire allied party. For example, pairing it with Healing Materia Healing Materia allows it to heal all allies, while pairing it with Fire Materia Fire Materia allows the spell to affect a large number of enemies at once.

Magnify can be switched on and off for the spells on the paired materia with L1. The effects of the magnified spells will be reduced based on the level of the magnify materia; this means reducing their damage/healing effects, or when used with status-inducing spells, the duration of the statuses will be shorter. Switching the magnify effect off will eliminate any mitigation.

Healing materia is a naturally common pairing to heal all allies. Using Curaga Curaga with magnify materia can potentially heal the entire to full health party at once, while Regen Regen can apply regen to all at once. Another common defensive materia pairing is Barrier Materia Barrier Materia, which allows the player to cast resisting spells to all party members at once, and can be very effective at surviving otherwise party wiping attacks. Time Materia Time Materia is a strong pairing both offensively and defensively, allowing the player to either cast Haste Haste on all allies to boost speed or Stop Stop on all enemies to pause all at once.

Pairing magnify materia with offensive spells can be very powerful both in its ability to stagger multiple enemies at once, and to clear groups of enemies weak to an element. Using multiple copies of a materia paired with magnify materia can allow multiple effects to be granted to that spell. For example, pairing one Lightning Materia Lightning Materia with magnify, and another with Swiftcast Materia Swiftcast Materia, can allow Thundaga Thundaga to be cast on all enemies at once. This can also be effective with HP Absorption Materia HP Absorption Materia, MP Absorption Materia MP Absorption Materia, or Magic Focus Materia Magic Focus Materia. However, spells cast via Synergy Materia Synergy Materia or Gamble cannot be magnified. Magnified spells hit twice when cast on an Arcane Ward.

Reraise Materia Reraise Materia cannot be paired with magnify.

Pairing magnify is especially good in some battles with numerous enemies, such as a magnified Quaga Quaga against the tonberries in the colosseum challenge in "Can't Stop, Won't Stop", or a magnified Firaga Firaga against the flower fiends in the "Flowers From the Hill" odd job in the Grasslands Region in hard mode.
