Behind the scenes[]

Magnet in Kingdom Hearts II.
The Magnet ability originates from the Kingdom Hearts series. It is a recurring spell, together with its higher tiers Magnera and Magnega. Both the Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy Magnet spells share the same name of Magne in their respective Japanese releases.
While a similarly named enemy ability also appeared in Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy XIV, it has a different name in Japanese, (マグネット, Magunetto?).
Etymology[]
magnet is a material or object that produces a magnetic field. This magnetic field is invisible but is responsible for the most notable property of a magnet: a force that pulls on other ferromagnetic materials, such as iron, and attracts or repels other magnets.
