Battle[]

All varieties of Magna Roader have a chance to use powerful level two magic every other turn, but otherwise only use normal attacks. The brown Magna Roader has a unique AI script that gives it a chance to cast Fireball when attacked while alone. All four varieties are weak and easy to defeat.

When the party is fleeing the Magitek Research Factory in a mine cart, there are two enemies that can be found here: Mag Roader (Purple) and Mag Roader (Red). Mag Roader (Red) is a Rage that can easily be missed. In the GBA and 2014 versions, it can be found in the Soul Shrine, but in SNES, PS, and pixel remaster, this enemy only appears in the escape of the research facility.

The mine cart escape has five battles before the boss. In earlier versions, depending on which character is the leader/is in the first party slot, Mag Roader (Red) may or may not appear. Making the party members into Imps may also affect the enemy encounters.[1][2] In the pixel remaster, the enemy sequence seems to be truly random. In all versions, there are five battles: 1 and 3 are the same, and 2, 4, and 5 are the same. Battles 1 and 3 are either 1 purple, or 1 purple and 1 red. Battles 2, 4, and 5 are either 2 purple, or 4 red.
