Magitek Assassin is an enemy in Final Fantasy XV fought randomly throughout the map from landing craft drops, and during the sidequest Formouth Garrison. It is a magitek trooper.

Bestiary

A dual-wielding magitek trooper that received a total overhaul. Only a few hundred prototypes exist at present, however, as mass production of the top-of-the-line parts required for this unit proved too difficult to maintain.
Size: 7 ft. 2 in. Weight: 355.8 lb.

Stats

Battle

Unlike the many of their brethren, who wield melee weapons with slow efficiency, magitek assassins are probably the greatest threat coming out of the magitek infantry. They bear two swords and inflict damage by the hit rather than the amount. They are more resilient than the other models. When vulnerable, they trigger cross chains. They are weak to polearms and daggers and ice.

Strategy

Magitek Assassin from FFXV

Close combat is not recommended. It is best to leave the fighting to the rest of the party, and to stand afar while using firearms (as Noctis or by character-swapping to Prompto) and magic. Due to the combo-hitting nature of the Assassins' attacks, using Impervious is nearly useless. It is advised to create blizzard-based spells and to use Cerberus when controlling Noctis whose headshots rid of the assassins without difficulty from afar (this is especially easy in Wait Mode).

If the player does fight them in close-range, daggers work wonders though the player can swap to a weapon that triggers link-strikes on-the-fly when initiating blindside-strikes. Ignis's Enhancement bestows the ice element on Noctis's weapon, boosting his strikes. The player can also character-swap to Ignis and use his Frostbind, Overclock and High Jump.

Etymology

"Magitek" is a portmanteau of "magic" and "technology".
