Magissa is a boss in Final Fantasy V. A hunter, she travels around with her husband Forza, looking for a good bounty. Seeing Princess Lenna, she attacks, hoping to take the princess in along with her wind drake.

Magissa has short green hair (white in most versions' field sprites) and wears a purple leotard, purple nails, gray and gold boots and a green cape.

In the Finest Fantasy for Advance and the discontinued 2013 versions, she is also fought in the Cloister of the Dead of the Sealed Temple bonus dungeon.

Stats[]

Battle[]

The battle will begin with a poisoned Lenna. Magissa has no elemental weaknesses. Her Aero spell does some moderate damage to its target, and can be learned by a Blue Mage. Her Drain spell easily inflicts around 300 damage. After a while, she will summon Forza, who will concentrate on hurting the party, while Magissa heals him. She will still attack from time to time, but will focus more on aiding her husband.

Strategy[]

A White Mage should start off by casting Poisona on Lenna, and then follow up with casting Silence on Magissa, which she lacks immunity to. Silence will block most of Magissa's attacks, and she will attempt to cast spells that will be rendered ineffective until Silence wears off. As Magissa has no elemental weaknesses, it is advisable to attack physically.

After Magissa summons Forza, the player shouldn't attack him until Magissa is gone.

Additionally, one can simply use Knights, Monks, or Black Mages and do nothing but attack with physical attacks or Black Magic, and they should bring her down before she is able to call Forza to her aid. However, this means he will not appear in the player's Bestiary, so any players wishing to complete it should ensure he appears.

An instant way to defeat them is to break a Frost Rod, which can be found in Carwen.

Final Fantasy Record Keeper[]

Magissa and Forza appear as enemies in Final Fantasy Record Keeper. They are the bosses in the Record of North Mountain.

Target Scores
  • Afflict Magissa with Silence
  • Afflict Forza with Sleep
Strategy

If the player is to hit both targets here early, the party needs to have both Black and White Mages ready with status spells. Magissa casts low level magic while she lets her beau Forza provide the physical pain, even going so far as to cast Regen on him. But Forza only gets called in when Magissa loses one-fourth to one-half her HP. On top of this, Silence and Sleep have low success rates as they are, only to be slightly worse in this battle until both bosses appear. If able to squelch Magissa's spells, the player can use any attacks the party has to bring her down. To knock out Forza, put him to sleep and then pelt him with magic for a few rounds. The hunters fall, and with enough luck, the dungeon will be mastered.

The player could activate a Bonus Quest here on Elite difficulty to unlock Lenna as an ally.

Final Fantasy Trading Card Game[]

Magissa appears in the Final Fantasy Trading Card Game as a Fire-elemental Forward card. Her ability allows her controller to search for a 3 cost fire forward and put it into play when she has taken enough damage. A 3-cost fire Forza card was released in the same set making him a choice to grab off her and being the "flavor" reason for the card's design.

Dungeon Encounters[]

The Phantom Castle has a physical attack called Tower of Forza and a magic attack called Tower of Magissa.
