Dissidia Final Fantasy Summon Compendium

Magic Pot (マジックポット, Magikkupotto?), also known as Magic Urn and Magick Pot, is a recurring enemy in the Final Fantasy series, debuting in Final Fantasy V. They are usually immune to all magical and physical attacks. The most common way to defeat it is with the use of an Elixir, as Magic Pot is often invincible until the item is used on it. If not appeased, they are difficult if not impossible to defeat. Magic Pots often yield large rewards when defeated. Magic Pot has also rarely appeared as a summoned monster.

Appearances[]

Final Fantasy V[]

Magic Pot from FFV SNES sprite

Magic Pots are found in the Phoenix Tower. They demand Elixirs and reward the party with 100 AP when given enough. An artwork (Magic Box FFV Art (unused)) of a similar monster hiding under a box rather than in a pot was made for the game, but was never used for an enemy design.

Final Fantasy VI[]

MagicurnFFVI

Magic Urns are found in the Cultists' Tower. Glutturns appear in the Soul Shrine in the Advance and subsequent releases. The original Magic Urn casts curative spells on the party and flees, and Glutturns demand rare items or else they attack. If the party endures their attacks while refusing to give them the items they want, the Glutturns each have rare equipment pieces to be stolen.

Final Fantasy VII[]

Magic Pot FF7

Magic Pot is an enemy in the Northern Cave. They are immune to damage until an Elixir is used on them, and give large amounts of gil and 1000 AP when defeated. The Master Tonberries fought in the same area yield Elixirs, thus making the spot an excellent grinding spot.

Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII-[]

MagicPot-ccvii

Magic Pot appear as an enemy and as a summon for the Digital Mind Wave's Chocobo Mode, and are found in several specific missions. When encountered, they will ask the player to use predetermined commands which differ depending on the mission. Fulfilling its request for the first time in any mission unlocks it for the Digital Mind Wave. As a DMW, Magic Pot uses Item Mugger, granting Zack certain items depending on the ability level. Higher levels will give rarer items.

Final Fantasy X[]

Magic Urn-enemy-ffx

Magic Urns are found at the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth. They cannot be killed (unless Zanmato is used), and the player must target one of the pot's seven eyes. Targeting the correct eye earns a rare item, but the more times the player targets the correct eye, the more difficult it is to do so subsequently. When the player attacks the wrong eye, the Magic Urn explodes and damages the party.

Final Fantasy X-2[]

Magic Urns can be seen during one of the Cactuar shooting games, where shooting them will yield items.

Final Fantasy X-2: Last Mission[]

Magic Urns appear as shopkeepers.

Final Fantasy XI[]

Magic Pot 1 (FFXI)

Magic Pots are a family of arcana enemies, with the common Magic Pot being found as a regular enemy in Delkfutt's Tower. They lack their traditional impish creatures of the other series's titles lack the Elixir gimmick, and show no unusual resistance to damage. In fact, they have a weakness to blunt damage, such as that of hand-to-hand weapons and staves. Players can obtain a Magic Pot as a mount.

Final Fantasy XII[]

MagickPot-ffxii

Magick Pots can be fought at the Subterra floors of the Pharos and on Stage 91 of the Trial Mode. They are almost invincible to damage, but if the player does not attack it, it asks for an Elixir. Once given one, it becomes more vulnerable and will not attack, instead running around the area in a random pattern. The player can steal the Elixir back before killing it.

Final Fantasy XIV[]

Magic Pot XIV

Magic Pots are friendly NPCs first encountered during the 2013 All Saints' Wake event as part of the Show Me the Candy (Gridania) Show Me the Candy quests, where the objective is to collect candies to feed to the Pot. A single Magic Pot can be also be found on the Isles of Umbra in Western La Noscea. The player can trade an Elixir or a Hi-Elixir to this Magic for a Wind-Up Sun or Wind-Up Moon minion respectively.

Magic Pots also appear in Syrcus Tower Syrcus Tower during the battle against Thanatos. Each Alliance must protect one Magic Pot against hordes of enemies, and in return the Magic Pots will bestow the Astral Realignment status effect upon the Alliance members, allowing them to attack Thanatos. When under attack, the Magic Pots will shout out "Gimme a cure!" If all three Magic Pots are defeated, Thanatos will gain a damage boost and eventually become invincible once Astral Realignment wears off.

Enemies based on the Magic Pots from Final Fantasy XI also appear, but do not use the Magic Pot name, instead being referred to as Mana Pots (マナポット, Manapotto?).

Final Fantasy XV: Comrades[]

Magic pot XVC

Magic Pots appear randomly in missions. Giving them an ingredient will cause the Magic Pot to gift meteorshards to the player. One of the documents the player can find is a research log written by Sania Yeagre, which recounts her encounter with a Magic Pot.

Final Fantasy Dimensions[]

FFD Magic Pot

Magic Pots appear in parts of Castle Burtgang and of the Tower of Trials, and may appear in other locations as well. They are invulnerable to attacks and demand either a Hi-Potion, Ether, or Elixir upon being fought, fleeing if not quickly given the requested item. If given the requested item, they sometimes flee anyway, but sometimes defeat themselves and award the party 777 gil, 77,775 EXP, and either 7 or 77 AP. They carry Elixirs that can be stolen from them, although each steal attempt has a low chance of success.

Final Fantasy Dimensions II[]

Magic Pots appear as common enemies on the fifth layer of Babil Tower. Magic Pot also appears as a water-elemental Eidolon. When summoned it uses Gimme Elixir, which restores a maximum of 1/2 HP to the entire party.

The automatic (left) and manual (right) versions of Magic Pot.

Magic Pot appears as a summon. In both auto and normal modes, it uses Mimic to equal the summoner's Bravery points with their opponent's. When used automatically, it activates when the opponent's current Bravery is three times its base value, and shows its Final Fantasy X artwork; when used manually, it shows Final Fantasy VII artwork instead.

Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia[]

DFFOO Magic Pot Model

Magic Pots appear as rare enemies on the final wave of a Carbuncle's Treasures quest. In keeping with game mechanics, the imp inside the pot will demand that it is to be struck with either an HP or BRV attack. Using a BRV attack when one is requested will allow the Magic Pot to smoke-bomb itself out of battle. Using the requested attack will double all rewards gained after battle.

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy[]

Theatrhythm Magic Pot

Magic Pots are very rare enemies, randomly appearing on high difficulty songs, but leave a large amount of Experience Points when defeated. If the player finds a Dark Note with a Magic Pot among the enemies, this provides a reliable way to level grind, as Dark Note enemies are always the same on subsequent attempts, providing a guaranteed encounter with the Magic Pot.

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call[]

Magic Pots appears as enemies in Battle Music Sequences.

Final Fantasy Airborne Brigade[]

Magic Pot Brigade

Magic Pots are found in every quest location, but only while the player's brigade is engaged in battle with an enemy. It replaces Gate Crystal encounters, and it runs away when attacked, dropping an item for the player. A Magic Pot will drop either a Fey Drink, which increases the player's BP by one, or a Hero Drink, which doubles the contribution points the player's brigade earns for the next five minutes.

Final Fantasy All the Bravest[]

Magic Pot ATB

The Magic Pot appears as an enemy encountered on the Bridge of Moore. It uses Elixir Thirst and drops the Lamia Harp.

Final Fantasy Record Keeper[]

Magic Pot from Final Fantasy V appears as a rare enemy in the Power-Up Dungeons. In material dungeons they will always drop a Rarity 5 or 6 orb appropriate to that dungeon; for instance, in Brimstone Caldera, where enemies drop Fire Orbs and Fire Crystals, the Magic Pot will drop either a Major Fire Orb or a Fire Crystal. In the other Power-Up Dungeons they will instead drop large amounts of gil, or reward experience along with a Growth Egg or Greater Growth Egg. Higher difficulty dungeons have better chances to spawn a Magic Pot.

Magic Pots original to Record Keeper also appear as special enemies in some special event dungeons, where the rewards they drop vary. For instance, the 30th Anniversary event includes a one-time dungeon where the player could fight a lone Magic Pot and earn 30 Mythril.

The Magic Pot will generally warp away when the player approaches, unless the player "spawns" adjacent to the pot, is invisible, or hits the pot as it's warping. There is roughly one second to hit the pot while warping, and the player may kill it "after" it's warped, resulting in the loot being on the floor elsewhere in the level.
