FFD - Black Mage

The Black Mage is a job in Final Fantasy Dimensions obtained at the start of the story, and is shared by both parties. It focuses on the use of Black Magic.

Appearance[]

Depending on the version, the characters' outfits bear different colors:

  • The mobile phone version depicts the party as wearing blue robes, or black ones depending on the gender, with a pointy hat that conceals their faces. Sol exclusively wears a red-colored robe.
  • The iOS and Android versions give the party blue robes regardless of their gender. Additionally, depending on the gender, they get a different adornment type for their hat: males have the five-point star and females have the crescent moon.

Overview[]

The Black Mage is the game's most accessible Job for magical damage; for the Warriors of Light, who don't get access to Magus, it is their best way to cast offensive magic. Spells are bought as the story progresses, contrasting a Summoner whose Eidolons must be fought and defeated towards the end of their respective chapter. Eidolons are also split between both parties until their eventual merging, making it easier for a Black Mage to exploit elemental weaknesses early-to-mid game. Although magically powerful, Black Mages suffer from poor physical stats, including speed. Rods are their main weapon, but they can also equip bows. As they progress in level, Black Mage helps provide access to a number of Fusion Abilities, such as the three tiers of Magic Bomb, and Thunder Slash.

Statistics[]

Black mages have high MP and Intellect, below average HP, Speed, Vitality and Spirit, and poor Strength.
