Magic focus materia is a 
Support Materia in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. It can be linked with 
Magic Materia to boost the effects of their spells. This either means a greater damage/healing effect, or a longer lasting status.
Magic focus materia appears to the remake project's version of the original game's MP Turbo, though spells enhanced with magic focus do not cost more MP.

Magic focus materia boosts the strength of the linked spell being cast. This, coupled with boosting the spellcaster's 
Magic Attack, is the best way to increase the damage or healing output of certain spells. In strategies where one particular spell is relied upon (especially in many Chadley Combat Simulator gauntlets), this can make the materia a very useful pairing.
The materia can boost the effect of healing spells, but 
Curaga is normally strong enough where magic focus becomes less necessary. In theory, the materia can also be used to lengthen the duration of statuses inflicted. Though this can be useful with Time Materia (both to boost Haste supportively or Stop offensively), this is often also less effective than using it with attack magic.
Using magic focus with attack materia is therefore the best use, and can be especially effective when pairing other orbs of the same materia with other support materia ( Magnify Materia, HP Absorption Materia, MP Absorption Materia, or Swiftcast Materia). However, all linked magic materia need to have the level of the spell the player wants to use for multiple effects to trigger at once.
Making use of the 
Genji Gloves, and/or a party member with a high Magic Attack (Aerith or Cloud) or one with ability to dualcast spells (Aerith with Arcane Ward, or Yuffie with Doppelganger, which can be paired with Arcane Ward to cast a spell four times), can lead to deadly spells cast that make quick work of even most lategame bosses. The player can also use it in conjunction with 
Magic Up Materia and/or 
Faith.
Magic focus materia can also be paired with Fire and Ice Materia, Lightning and Wind Materia, and/or Poison and Petrify Materia as a way to boost multiple spells at once. Magic Focus can be good with poison and earth spells to both deal more damage, and lengthen the duration of 
Poison and 
Petrify.
As magic focus materia takes a lot of AP to level up, it can be a good pairing with AP Up Materia on a back line party member when the player is not using magic with it.
