The Mage Masher in Final Fantasy IX.

A powerful sword once used for the persecution of mages.

The Mage Masher (メイジマッシャー, Meiji Masshā?), also known as the Mute Knife and Mage Slasher, is a recurring weapon in the Final Fantasy series. It is typically a dagger or short sword that inflicts the Silence status ailment as well as damaging the enemy.

Zidane Tribal from Final Fantasy IX has a version of this weapon that has become one of his signature weapons.

Appearances Edit

The Mage Masher was included in the Dawn of Souls and 20th Anniversary remake. It can be found in the lower levels of the Whisperwind Cove, and provides 20 Attack, 30 Accuracy, 25 Critical, and +5 Intelligence. It may also cast Silence when used as an item and can be used by all classes except White Mage and Monk and their upgrades.
