The power of magic depends greatly on its user. Therefore, a lot of mages train their hardest every day in order to strengthen themselves, even if only a little. The mage's habit is made of a specially woven fabric that heightens the magical powers and spirit of the wearer. However, since it can only amplify such qualities based on the wearer's current conditions, it would be wise not to overestimate its abilities.
In the 3D versions, it provides 13 Defense, 13 Magic Defense, and +1 Intelligence and Mind. In the NES version, it provides 9 Defense, 7 Magic Defense, and 7% Evade. It can be found in Gulgan Gulch and bought in Village of the Ancients and Dwarven Hollows for 2,000 gil.
In the original version Mage's Habit is a mid-ranking mystic armor that can be equipped after obtaining the Mystic Armor 5 license. It provides +10 MP, +18 Defense, and +6 Magick Power. It can be purchased for 2,500 gil at Jahara and Mt Bur-Omisace and dropped by Battery Mimic (1%) in Barheim Passage.
In the Zodiac versions, Mage's Habit now provides 21 Defense, +50 MP, +6 Magick Power, and requires the Mystic Armor 5 license for 30 LP. It can be bought in Eruyt Village and Mt Bur-Omisace for 2,500 gil, found as a treasure in Henne Mines (Phase 1 Dig) and Paramina Rift (Freezing Gorge), or dropped by Battery Mimic. It is also a treasure in Trial Mode Stage 65 with the Diamond Armlet equipped. It can be equipped by the White Mage, Red Battlemage, Black Mage, and Bushi.
Mage's Habit is a Clothes obtained by crafting it using 80 gil, x5 Demon's Tails, x3 Glowseeds, and x8 Spellsilks, and by completing Beginner C-2 of the Colosseum. It provides 20 DEF, 10 MAG, and 10 SPR.
