The Machina Leader is an enemy in Final Fantasy X-2 that can be found in the New Cave in the Thunder Plains and Cloisters 70-74 of the Via Infinito.

Battle[]
As long Lightning-elemental attacks are not used, the Machina Leader isn't too difficult to defeat. Its only attack is Impale, which targets one character and ignores their Defense stat for moderate damage.
Creature Creator[]
The Machina Leader is available for capture with a Trap pod S in the Thunder Plains during Chapter 5 once the New Cave is unlocked. It comes with Attack, Impale, Ailment Def., and Lightning Eater learned by default. Additionally, it can learn Power Break in battle if its level is at least 15.
Setting up the Machina Leader with Impale, Vigor, Esuna, and either Life or Full-Life as its Main Command abilities, followed by Break Damage Limit, Break HP Limit, First Strike, and Auto-Haste as its auto-abilities, and the Peerless Garment Grid with the Mascot dressphere allows it to easily take out almost any enemy in the game, especially once it has its stats at max (or close to max). With the Critical effect granted from the Peerless Garment Grid, Impale can do immense amounts of damage to a single enemy, even when the target either has Protect or DEF Up. However, the Machina Leader will not win against enemies that have a complete immunity to physical damage, notably the Protean Gel and Aeshma. The Machina Leader will initially use Esuna mistakenly on its turn, but eventually will avoid using it afterwards. This setup can also be used with the Machina Ranger and Machina Hunter, as both also have the Impale ability.
