Oh, shut up and help me remodel the Machina Kunagiri/Opera Omnia page!
Rem's childhood friend and an Agito cadet in Class 0. Developing an extreme fear of death after the loss of his brother to war, he lusts for power that would allow him to protect those he loves. Perhaps due to his pure and honest nature, he sometimes loses himself to the voices of those around him.
Description
Machina is a playable character in Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia who can be recruited during the event (Global)/Lost Chapter (Japan) Keeper of Fear.

Profile[edit | edit source]
Appearance[edit | edit source]
Machina wears the uniform of Class Zero, which consists of a long black jacket, a red cloak and white trousers.
Personality[edit | edit source]

Story[edit | edit source]
Spiritus summons Machina to the world of respite, explaining to him about the current situation of the world. Golbez chances upon him, mistaking him for one of Class Zero cadets he is familiar with. To Machina's surprise, Golbez tells him about the cadets he has met, but is hesitant to meet them. Machina decides to meet with the others and reveals himself to them, but realizes they don't share the same memories as he does. After persuasion from Rem, Machina agrees to travel with them. The others begin to suspect he knows something he is not letting on.
After the Cloud of Darkness gives Ace his brilliance and he recalls Machina's "treachery", he summons Akademeia where Class Zero could live and be remembered.[1] Ace confronts Machina for his attitudes, until realizing he was being manipulated by the Cloud of Darkness, who wanted to use him to bring the world back to nothingness by flooding it with darkness.

Gameplay[edit | edit source]
Machina's full kit (15cp, 35cp, EX+ 3/3, LD) is well-given to an aggressive approach and lends itself to additional attacks and consecutive turns, particularly across shorter battles. Central to any strategy involving Machina is his LD ability, Stunning Slash, which adds a powerful additional AOE attack (Spiral Lynchpin) that follows his every subsequent attack. The additional Spiral Lynchpin attack is an enemy debuff, rather than a buff that wears off as the user continues to take their turns, such as Noctis's residual burst effect. This means that Machina's additional attack occurs for as many turns he can manage before the enemy takes 3 turns. Pairing him with a character that can delay the enemy's turn (e.g., Leo, Aranea, or Amidatelion) increases his longevity, as Stunning Slash has only 4 uses. There are two disadvantageous consequences for this gimmick: Machina must reapply Stunning Slash for every subsequent wave of enemies to maintain the Spiral Lynchpin effect, and due to the limited uses of Stunning Slash, he is ill-suited to battling bosses that remove their debuffs. Lastly, Spiral Lynchpin is an AOE attack that deals proportional damage; although its AOE effect might be desirable, its effect on individual enemies is significantly weakened over the course of waves with multiple bosses.
Machina's primary abilities are Awakening and Cyclone Drive. Awakening is an instant attack that can be repeated as many times as the player wishes, although it is restricted to 5 uses. Cyclone Drive ends Machina's turn, but offers a significant BRV refund empowering subsequents Spiral Lynchpins. The use of either attack upgrades Machina's default HP Attack+ (turned into Furious Blades by the Awakening buff) into Furious Blades+, which deals an amount of damage comparable to an Awakening attack and is useful for preserving ability uses in more protracted COSMOS and CHAOS battles. Machina's EX ability, Guardian Blades, is a powerful AOE attack that offers a large BRV refund for a subsequent Spiral Lynchpin attack and should be executed in the place of Cyclone Drive as often as it becomes available.
