Final Fantasy Wiki

The Machina Hunter is an enemy in Final Fantasy X-2 that can be found in Bikanel in Chapters 3 and 5, as well as Cloisters 27-29 of the Via Infinito during Chapter 5. It uses Mech Scouter's model from Final Fantasy X.

Stats[]

Battle[]

On its turn, the Machina Hunter has an 80% chance of using a regular physical attack and a 20% chance of using Impale, which is a stronger version of its regular attack that ignores the target's Defense stat.

It is not a particularly strong enemy, and just about any attack, except Lightning-elemental attacks, will work against it. It is usually accompanied by other Machina-type enemies.

Creature Creator[]

Starting from Chapter 3, the player can capture the Machina Hunter with a Trap pod S in Bikanel. It comes with Attack, Impale, Ailment Def., and Lightning Eater learned by default. Additionally, it can learn Electrocute at level 15 or higher, which targets one enemy and inflicts Lightning-elemental damage.

An ideal setup for the Machina Hunter involves Impale, Vigor, Esuna, and either Life or Full-Life as its Main Command abilities, as well as Break Dmg. Limit, Break HP Limit, First Strike, and Auto-Haste as its auto-abilities, and the Peerless Garment Grid with the Mascot dressphere equipped. Since Impale ignores Defense and can score a critical hit, it can deal immense amounts of damage to a single enemy, even when it has Protect or DEF Up. This allows the Machina Hunter to take on almost any enemy in the game, with the only exceptions being those that have an immunity to physical attacks, namely the Aeshma and Protean Gel. This setup can also be used with the Machina Ranger and Machina Leader, as both have access to the Impale ability.

Etymology[]

Machina is the Latin word for "machine".
