MP Plus is an Independent Materia in Final Fantasy VII. When equipped, it increases the user's MP by a percentage, by 10% at level 1, up to 50% at level 5. Multiple MP Plus Materia stack on the same character up to either double the character's base MP, or to the maximum HP of 999.
The player can get free MP Plus Materia via the Materia smuggling glitch. On the Materia Exchange menu screen, if the player places the cursor on the final character's weapon, then loses a character for a story event, the game keeps the cursor in place, resulting in it opening on a garbage memory registry. This registry contains hexadecimal code, which defaults to 00, or MP Plus.
|1||0||Increases MP by 10%.|
|2||10000||Increases MP by 20%.|
|3||20000||Increases MP by 30%.|
|4||30000||Increases MP by 40%.|
|5||50000||Increases MP by 50%.|
MP Plus provides a percentage boost to a character's MP. It can stack with multiple MP Plus Materia to up to double a character's base maximum MP, or up to 999. This is the best way to increase a character's MP without using HP↔MP, as though equipping Magic and Summon Materia will increase the MP, they will not reach 999 MP until much later levels.
MP Plus is normally useful for characters more inclined towards casting spells. Characters with a higher Magic stat are better choices for spellcasting. These are Aeris, Red XIII, Yuffie, and Vincent. Cloud can also be built either towards spellcasting or physical damage. MP Plus is useful for these characters to increase their durability in dungeons.
