Description
MBarrier is an indirect magic spell in Final Fantasy VII. It is granted by the Barrier Materia at level two, and applies the MBarrier status effect, which halves all magical damage. MBarrier is the counterpart of Barrier, which halves physical damage. The spell is cast to all party at once with the Lunar Curtain item.

Use[]
MBarrier can be used by characters with the Barrier Materia at level 2. It applies the MBarrier status effect, which halves incoming magic damage against the target. The spell has a moderate MP cost of 24. It is useful against enemies that rely on dealing magical damage. The spell can be applied to all allies when linking the Barrier Materia with the All Materia.
The Big Guard from the Enemy Skill Materia provides not only the MBarrier status, but also Barrier and Haste, with no requirement to be linked to the All Materia. Though Big Guard's MP cost is over double that of MBarrier, the effects are worth it. Therefore, after Big Guard is obtained, MBarrier is effectively redundant.
MBarrier can be cast by the enemies Dark Nation, Adamantaimai, Death Claw, Valron, and Rude during the fight at Rocket Town in "Toward the Sea of Stars".
