M.O.T.O.R.[1] is a boss in Final Fantasy VII Remake, fought during "Flying Through the Night" in Chapter 18, "Destiny's Crossroads". M.O.T.O.R. is not fought using the game's typical battle mechanics, but must be defeated by Cloud on his Hardy-Daytona as the party escapes the Shinra Building on the Midgar Expressway during the bike minigame.

Battle[]

M.O.T.O.R. has a variety of abilities and avoiding them is the key to defeating it efficiently. Its most common way of attacking is slamming the road with its wheels. As the chase progresses, it will use lasers and flamethrowers. Once all wheels have been damaged enough, M.O.T.O.R. enters stagger. Unlike normal enemies, M.O.T.O.R.'s stagger damage multiplier will not reset between staggers, and grows with every hit taken. After the stagger ends, M.O.T.O.R. repairs four of its six wheels, and takes on more abilities.

Because of the unique circumstances behind the encounter, M.O.T.O.R. cannot be Assessed, and does not have an Enemy Intel entry.

Strategy[]

To damage M.O.T.O.R., the player needs to get right next to it and slash its glowing wheels. During the first cycle, all six wheels glow, while on following cycles only four wheels will light up. When M.O.T.O.R. prepares to attack, it is best to brake to move away from its attack radius. Once all wheels are destroyed, the player should continue attacking to raise the stagger percentage. The stagger percentage will not reset between staggers, so the damage dealt to M.O.T.O.R. will escalate with each stagger.[note 1] Spinning Slash destroys all wheels on the side it is used on, or can be used to inflict high damage and greatly increase the stagger percentage.
