Etymology[]

Lycaon was the son of Pelasgus and Meliboea, respectively king and queen of Arcadia, in the form of a wolf starting the myth that Lycaon, the founder of his own cult, became a wolf. Lycaon is also the son of King Priam and Laothoe of Troy. He was captured by Achilles as a slave but was freed. He was later killed by Achilles when the latter was in a rage after Patroclus' death by the hands of Hector.
