Lunarians are a race of moon inhabitants from Final Fantasy IV. They are searching for another world to inhabit, since their original world orbiting between Jupiter and Mars was destroyed. The Lunarians came to Earth, but the majority believed that the humans were not ready to accept them and created a second moon and fell into eternal sleep there. However, one Lunarian, KluYa built an airship known as the Lunar Whale to travel to Earth. KluYa taught the people there advanced technology such as Airship building and the Serpent Road and also fathered two sons, Cecil Harvey and Ceodore Harvey, who later become known as Golbez. KluYa eventually died and his spirit came to rest as Mt. Ordeals.

Although the majority of Lunarians are content to sleep, Zemus comes to believe that they should colonize Earth and builds the Giant of Bab-il to destroy humanity and leave Earth to the Lunarians. It is for this reason, as well as the protection of the Lunarians as a whole, that the Lunarian FuSoYa, Kluya's brother, remained awake to seal Zemus, although Zemus was still able to use his telepathy to control Golbez from afar. Through Zemus' control, Golbez is able to call the Giant of Bab-il to Earth, but it is destroyed and FuSoYa restores Golbez's mind from Zemus. After Zemus is defeated, Golbez goes to sleep with FuSoYa and the moon leaves Earth's orbit. However, in Final Fantasy IV: The After, the moon has returned although the fate of the Lunarians is not yet revealed.

Physically, Lunarians appear identical to humans, although if FuSoYa's physical appearance is any indication they are very long-lived. As well, Cecil and Golbez possess no distinictive physical traits that would identify their heritage. Lunarians appear to be natural mages, and Golbez, Zemus and FuSoYa all know the ultimate magic Meteor as well as a variety of other high-level spells, and the spirit of KluYa is able to grant Meteor to Tellah as well.

It is interesting to note that it appears as if the Lunarians were a decadent race that was full of corruption. Undead Lunarians greedily guard their treasures during your journey to the core of the moon. It appears that they may have been in league with Zemus, or shared similar goals.
