Lunar Ifrit is an optional boss in Final Fantasy IV Advance and The Complete Collection. It is fought during Edge's Lunar Trial at the Lunar Ruins. When beaten, he gives the Hanzo's Gloves, which changes Edge's Steal command to Mug, and the Grimoire LI which if used as an item, summons Lunar Ifrit to deal 9,999 fire-based damage to all enemies. Using up the Grimoire unlocks the trial door again.

Battle[]

Lunar Ifrit counters Ice magic with the powerful Inferno, and counters attacks with his own. He also casts Flame, Fira, and Firaga. Compared to the other "Lunar" bosses, Lunar Ifrit is simple to defeat as only Inferno is truly worrisome and the damage inflicted by his other attacks can easily be healed by Rosa or Porom.

Etymology[]

Luna means "moon" in Latin, Italian, Romanian, Russian, and Spanish.

In Arabian mythology, Ifrit (also spelled Efreet or Afreet, from Arabic عفريت Ifrīt), is the name given to a class of Jinn (Demons also known as Djinn, Djinni, and Genie) that embody fire. Though they could live for thousands of years, they were not immortal, and if cut, they would "bleed" the fire running through their veins until it consumed their bodies.
