Lunar Dragon is an optional boss in Final Fantasy IV Advance and The Complete Collection. It is fought during Rydia's Lunar Trial at the Lunar Ruins. When beaten, the player obtains the Mist Ring (which grants the Blink status to the party when Mist Dragon is summoned), and the Grimoire LD, which, if used as an item, summons the Lunar Mist Dragon to deal 9,999 damage to all enemies. Using up the Grimoire unlocks the trial door again.

Stats[]

Battle[]

Lunar Dragon will use Sleeping Gas and Poison Gas. It also transforms to and from a mist form, raising its Evasion, although a physical attack may cause it to revert. When in its mist form, it will counter all attacks with Freezing Mist as before; however, it deals just 1 damage against the party now. It can also heal itself for 9,999 damage with Restore, and casts Slow. Rydia's Bahamut summon may fail if used during this trial.

Strategy[]

Rydia should cast Flare. Rosa and Porom should use Esuna to heal Lunar Dragon's status attacks, while the rest of the party uses physical attacks. If Cecil has acquired the Lightbringer, his ultimate weapon, he may accidentally heal the Lunar Dragon by casting Holy against it, though regular attacks will damage it.
