Lucky Girl (ラッキーガール, Rakkī Gāru?) is a Limit Break that inflicts the Critical status so all hits landed count as critical hits regardless of where they land or other formulas.

Appearances[]

Final Fantasy VII[]

The Lucky Girl Limit Break is accessed through Cait Sith's Limit Break, Slots, by lining up three Hearts. When activated, a catgirl pops up followed by hearts the player's party is charmed. The condition makes all of the party's physical attacks, whether it be a normal attack, Limit Break, or command attack like Slash-All, hit as critical hits.

Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII-[]

While the Lucky Stars Limit Break is its own ability and is based on Lucky Girl, as the Digital Mind Wave represents Zack Fair's thoughts, the Limit Break is associated with Cissnei, a female member of the Turks whom Zack flirts with from time to time.

Origin[]

Lady Luck is a popular and somewhat memetic personification of luck as a lovely and bountiful woman among gamblers. Though while she is popularly regarded with good fortune, is sometimes also regarded with bad luck upon one pushing their risks and stakes too far. Lady Luck is believed to originate from the Greek and Roman goddesses Tyche and Fortuna, whose images were lavishly displayed on articles of luxury like coins, jewelry, and vanities in dedicated shrines and spread with the Macedonian Empire. Her current incarnation is believed to have evolved from gambler folklore from European gambling dens and casinos.

Being depicted as a catgirl in Final Fantasy VII may be inspired by the maneki-neko, a mythical cat believed to bring good fortune and is the incarnation of various goddesses of luck and mercy in East Asia. It is also documented that cats will sometimes snatch and bring home shiny objects, in some cases money. Lucky Girl being a catgirl may also be because Cait Sith is a cat.
