Profile[]
Appearance[]
Locke's default appearance, the "Intrepid Treasure Hunter", is based on his Yoshitaka Amano artwork. He wears black pants and an open jacket with blue patterns over a white t-shirt. He wears a blue and yellow headband, white boots with blue laces, and a brown belt with a patterned blue sash and a red sheathe for his dagger. This outfit has two alternate colorations. One has white pants, black boots, yellow laces, a beige belt, a red sash, and a white bandana with red accents. Another has dark gray pants, black boots, gray laces, a beige belt, a yellow sash, and a dark gray bandana with white rim.
Locke's alternate costume, the "Devoted Returner", is based on his SD artwork. He wears blue pants and an open short-sleeved shirt, with pale blue sleeves rolled up to the shoulder. He wears a white vest, light-brown gloves and boots, a blue bandana, and a pale-green sash around his waist. Locke's hair is silver. This costume has two alternate colorations. The first has black pants and a black shirt, beige sleeves, white gloves and boots, and a light blue sash and bandana. The second has a dark blue shirt with white sleeves and dark blue pants, a blue-purple sash and bandana, dark brown gloves and boots, and light brown/blond hair.
Personality[]
Equipment[]
Locke wields daggers and also uses the Rising Sun in his moveset.
His default weapon is the Main Gauche, while his alternate weapons are the Thief's Knife, the Assassin's Dagger, and the Valiant Knife.
Story[]
The Amnesiac Wanderer[]
The New Conflict[]
Unlike Y'shtola Rhul and Noctis Lucis Caelum, who are confirmed to have never participated in the old conflict, it is unknown if Locke was summoned to World B and then later dismissed sometime between the first and the eleventh cycles.
Shortly after Shinryu's defeat, the moogles give Locke a crystal to host his memories for Materia to use in the upcoming infinitely long war. With a crystal doppelgänger of himself to serve on Materia's behalf, Locke returns to his home world.
Gameplay[]
- Type: Assassin - Locke's attack power increases when he assails foes not targeting him.
Locke makes use of fast and short-ranged combos with his daggers and throwing rings. He is reliant on fighting opponents that are not targeting him, as this causes his attacks to deal more damage and powers up his unique EX Skill. When using his unique EX Skill on an opponent not targeting him, Locke will steal a random piece of equipment that allows him to use a one-time special attack by using the EX Skill button again. This makes Locke highly dependent on team play, to catch opponents by surprise and maximize his damage output; in head-on fights where his opponent is targeting him back, Locke's potential is lessened. Another disadvantage is that in exchange for the versatility of his EX Skill, Locke has a smaller-than-normal pool of Bravery attacks normally, making him a bit more predictable.

Creation and development[]
Locke was considered as the playable candidate of Final Fantasy VI during development of the original Dissidia Final Fantasy, but Tetsuya Nomura stated that the heroes' side lacked female representatives, and Locke rejected in favor of Terra Branford, due to her prominence in the main game and her stronger connection to Kefka Palazzo.
Locke was revealed as the second DLC character of the Season Pass on May 15, 2018. He was released on May 17, 2018 in the arcade version, and was released later in June 2018 on consoles.
Voice[]
Locke is voiced by Yūki Ono in the Japanese version, who previously voiced him as the "Amnesiac Man" in Dissidia Final Fantasy: Secretum -Himitsu-. In the English version, he is voiced by Jonathan von Mering.[2]
