Lightning, also known as Bolt or LIT, is an element in Final Fantasy. Lightning is an effective offensive element, as while fewer enemies are weak against it than Fire, far less enemies resist it than either other offensive element, making it a safe element to use in most battles. Additionally, as most Aquatic-type enemies are weak against Lightning, it excels in the Sunken Shrine and when traveling by sea or river. Defensively, Lightning resistance occupies a middle ground between Fire and Ice in terms of how commonly enemies can inflict Lightning damage.

Status-inflicting attacks[]
Due to a bug in the original release, the element(s) of status-inflicting regular attacks became those that the user was weak against instead of the element normally associated with the status. The status-inflicting attacks below became Lightning-elemental as a result of this bug. This bug was fixed in subsequent releases, and no enemies have Lightning-elemental attacks.
