Cape-Caem-Coast-FFXV

A disused lighthouse at Cape Caem in Final Fantasy XV.

A lighthouse is a recurring type of background element or, seldom, a visitable location in the Final Fantasy series. Lighthouses are towers with a light on top that serves as a beacon for navigational aid, usually for maritime pilots at sea.

Appearances[]

Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII-[]

VIICC Nibel Plains

The Nibel Plains have a lighthouse by the beach. Cissnei confronts Zack Fair in its vicinity, but it is not a visitable location.

Final Fantasy VIII[]

Edea's Orphanage 9

Beach outside Edea's House.

Edea's House has a lighthouse nearby that also appears on the location's world map model FFVIII Edea's House WM, though the lighthouse is never visited neither in flashback nor in present day playable segments. The lighthouse is never lit during the modern day, but is in use during a flashback scene on the beach FF8ScreenshotZell14.

When the house is visited in the future, the lighthouse is completely gone with no remains visible.

The lighthouse in-game differs slightly from the concept art for the area Edea's Orphanage FF8 Art 5.

Final Fantasy XII[]

Pharos at ridorana

Pharos at Ridorana.

The Pharos is a dungeon called "the Great Lighthouse" in Japanese. The English name derives from the Lighthouse of Alexandria, also known as the Pharos of Alexandria, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World built at Alexandria, Egypt, to guide sailors to port at night.

It is tall spire into the skies with a light at the top, however, its purpose is not to serve as a lighthouse, but to house the Sun-Cryst; the light emanating from the top at nighttime is actually the glow of this large piece of nethicite. Pharos effectively serves as the final dungeon, being the last storyline dungeon visited and the final location of the game being fairly short and lacking save points.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII[]

LRFFXIII Dead Dunes Lighthouse Concept

Concept art for the lighthouse.

The Dead Dunes desert has an "Oasis Lighthouse". The way to the lighthouse is blocked by a sandstorm that has a Cactair caught in it. Defeating it earns one of Dajh Katzroy's soul fragments needed for a main quest in the Wildlands. The player can battle Cactuars here who drop good gil and locate the quest giver for the game's most arduous quest: to fell every Last One enemy. Because some enemies only appear in the final dungeon, this quest cannot be completed until in New Game Plus.

The lighthouse is lit between 6pm and 6:55am. The player can use it a visual marker, though the game also has an in-game map.

Final Fantasy XIV[]

Lighthouse outside Ul'dah from FFXIV

There is a lighthouse outside Ul'dah, which is lit at light.

The Ridorana Lighthouse raid appears as a callback to Final Fantasy XII.

Final Fantasy XV[]

Caem-Lighthouse-FFXV

Top of the lighthouse visited for the scraps of mystery sidequest.

A lighthouse is situated in Cape Caem. However, its secret purpose appears to be as a port for King Regis's royal vessel at its base. The lighthouse is at the peak of the cape, visible from the sea, although it no longer operates.

Cid Sophiar moves to the lighthouse in Chapters 6 and 8. The player can take the lift to the top after advancing to Chapter 9, needed to find the treasure for Scraps of Mystery XIII (the map is found in the House of Hexes). The player can also do a photo op up top.

If the player fed the cat in Galdin Quay earlier, it will appear behind the lighthouse for another quest. The player can either purchase luxury cat food from the shop at the parking lot for 20,000 gil, or have Monica Elshett cook a fish at the hideout's kitchen.

Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light[]

The Mysterious Lighthouse is an optional dungeon whose entrance is located in the back area of Liberte. By the time the player has access to the dungeon, Liberte Town is located on the Cetus's back. Like the other bonus towers, the player must obtain the Master Key to enter. The interior of the lighthouse resembles the Spelvia Dungeons and like any other of the bonus towers, there are one hundred floors.
