Was that Death himself? I felt a sudden dread course through my veins...

Lich is a boss from Final Fantasy IV: The After Years. It is fought on the fifth floor of the Depths of the True Moon.

Stats[]

Battle[]

Lich can attack with Earthquake and Bio, as well as use Black Hole to dispel all buffs on the party. The party should enter the battle with Float on, and have a White Mage reapply it if Lich uses Black Hole. He is weak to Fire and Holy, and a Black Mage with the Limit Ring on can hit as much as 15,000 damage with Firaga during a Full Moon, tearing into his HP. Physical attackers should use Holy-elemental weapons such as the Excalibur and the Lustrous Sword, and a White Mage should keep the party healed and reapply Float if it is removed, or, if the spell is available, cast Holy on Lich to deal a lot of damage.

Etymology[]

In fantasy fiction, a lich is a type of undead creature. Often such a creature is the result of a transformation, as a powerful magician or king striving for eternal life uses spells or rituals to bind his intellect to his animated corpse and thereby achieve a form of immortality.
