A powerful mage that attacks using spells like Meteo, Flare, and Meltdown.
PlayStation bestiary
The Level 90 Magic, formerly called L.90 Magic and L90Magic, is an enemy in Final Fantasy VI, and the strongest normal enemy encountered in the Cultists' Tower.
Stats[]
Battle[]
During its first three turns, Level 90 Magic has an equal chance of using Meteor, Flare, or Meltdown. After using Dispel on its fourth turn, it has a 66% chance of casting Flare up to three times. If attacked, it counters with Stop, Thundaga, or Reraise. It has inherent reflect.
A single Level 90 Magic can pincer attack the player's party. Almost all monster formations for single enemies have the pincer attacks disabled, or have a forced front, back, or side attack, but Level 90 Magic was one of the two enemies that slipped through, resulting in a pincer attack glitch. This bug was fixed for the European Game Boy Advance release.
Strategy[]
The party must bounce their attacks off their party members' own reflect shields. Level 90 Magic has no weaknesses, so any spells work to defeat it. Ultima is recommended since it ignores reflect.
One can also reflect Berserk and Poison or Bio, blocking its devastating magical attacks and making it a battle of attrition. As long as the party has Cura or Curaga and Osmose, it should be easy to outlast it.
