Marche learning a Blue Magic spell through the Learning ability.

Learning (ラーニング, Rāningu?), also known as Learn, is a recurring ability in the series. It is often an ability learned from the Blue Mage class, and allows the user to learn Blue Magic outside of the Blue Mage class.

Any Job can now learn Blue Magic.

Description

Learning is a Level 2 Blue Mage ability that requires 20 ABP to learn. If the character is a Mime or Freelancer with Blue Mage mastered, they do not need to equip this ability in order for it to be active, like all other passive abilities aside from Undead and Berserk.

With Learning the player characters learn Blue Magic when being hit by it.

Final Fantasy Tactics

Template:Sideicon There are a few spells that can be learned by having it cast on the characters while in said specific job. Ultima has a 100% chance of being randomly learned in battle if cast on Ramza's Squire job and Cleric, both on on chapter 4, that has not learned the spell yet and is healed at least 1 HP.

Curaja has a 40% chance of being randomly learned in battle if cast on a White Mage that has not learned the spell yet and is healed at least 1 HP. Protectja and Shellja have a 10% chance of being randomly learned in battle if cast on a White Mage that has not learned the spell yet and is inflicted with the status effect.

Firaja, Blizzaja, and Thundaja have a 30% chance of randomly being learned in battle by a Black Mage who hasn't learned the spell yet and is damaged but not KO'd by the spell, or absorbed and heals at least 1 HP. Nullifying the damage does not count.

Hasteja and Slowja have a 20% chance of randomly being learned in battle by a Time Mage who has yet to learn the spell and is inflicted with the status.

Leviathan has a 40% chance of randomly being learned in battle by a Summoner who has not yet learned it and is not KO'd by it, or absorbs at least 1 HP worth of damage. Nullifying the damage does not count. Salamander has a 30% chance of being learned, while Odin, Bahamut, and Lich have a 20% chance of being learned. Cyclops has a 10% chance of being learned, and Zodiark has a 90% chance of being learned.

Learning is a Blue Mage ability learned from the Blue Saber for 400 AP.

Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift

Template:Sideicon Learn is a passive ability learned by the Blue Mage job from the Light Saber weapon for 100 AP. This is also the only ability aside from the basic Black Magick spells and Shieldbearer that can be learned from a piece of equipment available right at the start of the game.

Bravely Default

Template:Sideicon Blue Magic is known as Genome Abilities and can be learned for the Vampire job class. Genome Drain is a support ability that allows characters to absorb enemy attacks if they are hit by them.

Bravely Second: End Layer

Template:Sideicon Learning is the job level 6 support ability for the Catmancer. It allows the player to learn certain enemy abilities when they are used against them. Only one party member needs to have Learning equipped for all to benefit from its effect. Any job can equip it for the cost of 1 slot.

The Blue Mage mechanic is used during the Present Day Chapter. Masaru can learn new combat styles from the fighters he fights against in the global fighting tournament, he must be hit by the martial arts technique. He can immediately use the learned technique after acquiring said technique.
