Leaping Rush is a physical ability for Lightning in Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. It is a unique version of the Jump ability exclusive to the Heartstealer garb, dealing physical damage to the targets.
Obtained[]
Leaping Rush Lv. 2 is automatically equipped as one of the locked abilities for the Heartstealer garb, which is obtained from a treasure cube on the Ark on Day 9.
Mechanics[]
When used, Lightning performs a diving strike to the surrounding targets, dealing average physical damage to those in the radius. Like Jump, Leaping Rush also has a high chance of launching most smaller foes into the air, but lacks the higher probability of making enemies recoil like the former. After attacking three times with the ability, Leaping Rush will perform a combo finisher to deal extra damage to the primary target.
Leaping Rush can also be enhanced with En-spell effects. It will also transform into the status effect "Chaser" abilities when equipped with either the Brittle Bone and Bonecracker weapons.
Leaping Rush has the following set stats and cannot be upgraded.
Command | ATB Cost | Attack Power | Stagger Power | Stagger Time | Passive |

Behind the scenes[]
Due to the Heartstealer's costume design referencing Locke Cole from Final Fantasy VI, its access to Leaping Rush as a locked ability is a reference to Locke having access to Mirage Dive as his Desperation Attack.
