Laurenssen is a seasonal NPC in Final Fantasy XIV. A male Viera and Sharlayan folklorist, Laurenssen first appeared in the 2022 Starlight Celebration.

As an Associate Professor of the Studium's Faculty of Folklore, Laurenssen focused his studies on the association of reindeer with the Starlight Celebration. During his research, he discovered an ancient Ishgardian tome that detailed a reindeer using glamours to entertain children during Starlight season. Attributing this tale to the reindeer's association with Starlight, Laurenssen decided to attempt and prove this theory by taking Blitzen, a special reindeer in the care of Labyrinthos that belongs to a lineage that allows them to wield magicks to create glamours and illusions, and taking him to Gridania for the Starlight Celebration.
In Gridania, is association with Amh Garanjy, Laurenssen took on the help of an adventurer to try and recreate the scene to prove his theory. With a cold angle on the proceedings, Laurenssen found that he could not convince Blitzen to perform his magicks. While rethinking his approach, a distracted Laurenssen was separated from Blitzen. Panicked but bolstered by the adventurer, Laurenssen began searching for Blitzaen alongside the adventurer.
Once reunited with Blitzen, the trio received a visit by the Saint of Nymea, who pointed out, alongside the adventurer, that Laurenssen could not convince Blitzen to use his magicks because he had forgotten the point of the season, that being the benefit of the children. By seeing them as only means to further his studies, Blitzen would not follow his instructions. After the Saint took his leave, Laurenssen heard the sobbing of a child who been separated from her mother. While Laurenssen looked for a way to appease the child in her panicked state, Blitzen used its illusion magicks to conjure assorted floating Starlight accoutrement. Using this opportunity Laurenssen helped call the girl's mother and reunited them.
Laurenssen then returned to Amh with Blitzen and the adventurer, his theory proved, but less important than bringing joy to children with the help of Blitzen. Guided by the adventurer, Laurenssen and Blitzen entertained children throughout Gridania.

Laurenssen is a male Rava Viera of around 73 ilms of height with green hair and fur, tanned skin, and blue eyes. He wears 
Augmented Shire Philosopher's Coat dyed Dalamud Red, 
Elegant Rimless Glasses, 
Ronkan Trousers of Aiming and 
Moonward Boots of Aiming.
Personality[]
Laurenssen and Blitzen reunited.
Laurenssen has a serious demeanour. Although he can be condescending when people don't know things he considers common knowledge, and can focus too hard on his research, he is ultimately an empathetic man, prioritizing a crying child over his research.
Despite his cold attitude towards his research into Blitzen's abilities' relation to the Starlight Celebration, Laurenssen cares deeply for the reindeer, referring to him as "[his] boy" and panicking when he believed him lost and distress.
