Enemy Intel

Laser Cannon is an enemy in Final Fantasy VII Remake. It is fought in Mako Reactor 5 in Chapter 7, "A Trap Is Sprung", as well as in the Corneo Colosseum as part of the "vs. Shinra Warriors" challenge. They are not notable enemies, but are out of reach of melee attacks in the mako reactor, meaning Barret should destroy them with his ranged weapons.

Battle[]

The Laser Cannon is a more powerful version of the Sentry Ray, and is often situated at high locations, out of reach from melee attacks. Once the currently controlled player character is in its visible range, it will prepare its laser beam attack and fire in approximately two seconds, which can stun its target. It can also use Stun Beam, which will temporarily stun characters that are not blocking. The player cannot interrupt the Sentry Ray once it starts charging up its laser beam attack until it fires. Its actions, when not charging up its laser beam attack, can be interrupted. Much like the vast majority of mechanical enemies, the Sentry Ray is weak against Lightning Lightning. Being a stationary enemy, the Laser Cannon cannot be knocked down in any way, and it resists Wind Wind.

Hard Mode[]

On the hard difficulty, the Laser Cannon will fire its Stun Beam more often.

Strategy[]

Barret's normal attacks are the best way to interrupt the Laser Cannon, as it will fire its laser beam as soon as the player characters stop attacking. If it uses Stun Beam, simply blocking will prevent the stun effect. Using Thunder Thunder is the fastest way to dispatch them.

Etymology[]

A laser is a device that emits light through a process of optical amplification based on the stimulated emission of electromagnetic radiation. A laser differs from other sources of light because it emits light coherently allowing to be focused to a tight spot and to stay narrow over long distances.
