Lancet is a physical ability for Lightning in Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. It is a unique version of the Attack ability exclusive to the Dragoon garb, dealing physical damage and restoring HP to the user.

Lancet Lv. 3 is automatically equipped as a locked ability for the Dragoon garb, which can be obtained from completing the "Death Game" side quest in Yusnaan.
Mechanics[]
When used, Lightning strikes the enemy with a physical attack, dealing average physical damage and restoring her HP with each successful hit. After attacking four times with the ability, Lancet will perform a combo finisher to deal extra damage to the target. The ability costs 10 ATB to perform.
Unlike the default Attack, if Lightning is equipped with a spear, she will perform the Jump combo finisher, allowing her to deal extra physical damage. Lancet can also be enhanced with En-spell effects.

Lightning using the Lancet variant of Jump.
Due to its ability to restore HP, Lancet is an excellent move to perform when doing normal encounters, allowing her to inflict physical damage to foes and heal her HP. Although its HP restoring amount is small, Lancet's ATB cost of 10 allows for players to easily use the attack in succession and restore a moderate amount of HP after several combos. When combined with Overclock, using Lancet can serve as a good substitute for using recovery items in combat.
Lancet's ability to turn into Jump also allows Lightning to have a good method of dealing moderate physical damage and increase an enemy's stagger wave a small amount, especially if she is lacking the Beat Down ability.
