The Lamia is an enemy in Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. It attacks near Aquaria. It has high HP, but Phoebe's Thunder spell can easily kill it. At first it appears as a woman holding her snake tail over her shoulders, but after taking some damage she turns into a small cobra.

Etymology[]
In Greek mythology, Lamia was a beautiful Libyan queen who turned into a child-eating demon. She is often referred to as having the lower half of a snake and sometimes a large mouth (lamia in Greek means "large shark", while laimos means gullet).
Later characteristics attributed to her are similar to that of succubi, in that the lamia seduces men, enticing them to feed on their blood. It is said they reside in towers or secluded areas and have magical abilities.
In the German release, Lamia is named "Zed Yago." Zed Yago was a German heavy metal band formed in 1985 by the blues singer Jutta Weinhold. The band released two albums in 1988 before splitting up. After the two albums Jutta and the record label decided to dissolve the band in 1990 and start all over again. An entire new lineup was found and they changed their name to Velvet Viper.
