The Lambent Hat is a low to mid-ranked mystic headgear in Final Fantasy XII that boosts the wearer's Magick Resist by 15, Magick Power by 4, and—unusually for mystic armor headgear—Speed by 3. In the Zodiac versions, it also gives 36 to MP, less than the preceding Wizard's Hat.

Obtain[]

Original[]

The Lambent Hat is sold for 1,400 gil from Dyce outside the Tomb of Raithwall, in Rabanastre after defeating Belias, and in Jahara. It is found as a treasure in Nam-Yensa Sandsea's The Urutan-Yensa Sea (section furthest to the east of the map; 75% chance to appear, 50% chance for gil, 50% chance the item treasure is the Lambent Hat without the Diamond Armlet equipped Map 25 Nam Yensa Sandsea). It is rarely stolen from the Gigantoad on the rainy Giza Plains.

Zodiac[]

The Lambent Hat is sold for 1,400 gil by Dyce in Nam-Yensa Sandsea, Tomb of Raithwall, and Balfonheim Port, and in Rabanastre (after defeating Belias), and in Jahara. It is found as a treasure in Ogir-Yensa Sandsea's Central Junction (80% chance to appear, 50% chance for gil, 50% chance the item treasure is the Lambent Hat without the Diamond Armlet equipped), in Nam-Yensa Sandsea's Simoon Bluff (75% chance to appear, 30% chance for gil, 50% chance the item treasure is the Lambent Hat without the Diamond Armlet equipped), Tomb of Raithwall's Southfall Passage (80% chance to appear, 30% chance for gil, 50% chance the item treasure is the Lambent Hat without the Diamond Armlet equipped), as well as in the Trial Mode Stage 43 with the Diamond Armlet equipped. It is still rarely stolen from the Gigantoad in the rainy Giza.

Use[]

The Lambent Hat is a low to mid-ranked mystic hat, giving 15 Magick Resist, 4 Magick Power, and 3 Speed, as well as 36 MP in the Zodiac versions. Mystic armor offer magick-related bonuses that affect all types of magickal actions, from casting black magick to damage an enemy, to casting white magick to heal the party. Magick Power is also a factor when determining damage dealt by katana, staves, and maces. The small Speed bonus has but a minimal effect on Charge Time and is not worth prioritizing over other gear that offer better stats elsewhere. Speed also counts for damage calculation for bows, ninja swords and daggers, but the Archer and Shikari boards don't have the Lambent Hat, anyway.

In the Zodiac versions, White Mage, Red Battlemage, Black Mage, and Bushi can equip it, and so the Lambent Hat is only useful to buy if the player has chosen any of these License Boards for their party. In The Zodiac Age versions, after fighting Belias the player can choose two License Boards per party member; it is usually a good idea to pair jobs that use two different types of armor for versatility.
