Lakshmi, also known as the Lady of Bliss, is the Primal of the Ananta beast tribe in the second expansion for Final Fantasy XIV.

The Lady of Bliss, beloved deity of the serpentine Ananta tribe. Legends tell of a beauty without equal, a benevolent goddess whose coming brings the promise of halcyon days and bountiful harvests. Some believe she has imparted her life-bestowing powers to her most fervent followers─the Ananta. Lakshmi, in her infinite mercy, would shelter them from harm, granting them succor with her alluring embrace.

Official site description

Sri Lakshmi, the Lady of Bliss, was the creator goddess of the serpentine ananta. When the Garlean Empire conquered Gyr Abania, the Qaylana tribe of ananta accepted their rule in exchange for peace. Some ananta sided with the rebels, however, and Fordola rem Lupis - not understanding that the Qaylana were not responsible - demanded their broodmother's daughter as a hostage. After the rebels take Castellum Velodyna from the imperials, the Qaylana see an opportunity and intercept the Garleans fleeing with their hostage, demanding her return. One of the Garleans kills her, and the broodmother cries out to Lakshmi to save her daughter. As the Qaylana had spent long years crafting beautiful gems and crystals in honor of their goddess, the accumulated aether cause her to inadvertently summon Lakshmi as a primal. Lakshmi revives the broodmother's daughter, but is only able to heal her body; her soul cannot be restored, leaving her an empty shell. When the broodmother protests, Lakshmi simply enthralls her and the other Qaylana.

When the Qaylana demands all other ananta tribes bow before the Lady of Bliss, the Scions of the Seventh Dawn intervene. Lakshmi attempts to enthrall Lyse, Alisaie, and Alphinaud, but the Warrior of Light uses the power of the Echo to shield them. Lakshmi begrudgingly allows them to depart rather than basking in her radiance, but the Warrior of Light cannot allow a primal to remain on Eorzea and destroys her. Though Alisaie attempts to convince the Qaylana of the necessity of their actions, the broodmother is inconsolable with grief and demands that they leave her to her misery.

Lakshmi (Sanskrit: लक्ष्मी, Laksmi) is the Hindu goddess of wealth, light, wisdom and fortune, luck, beauty, courage and fertility. She is roughly the Hindu equivalent of Ancient Greco-Roman goddess Aphrodite/Venus and is the representation of beauty and wealth.
