LOVELESS - Behind the Scenes was an event in Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis. This event initially ran from January 29 to February 26, 2025, and was a collaboration with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. It is the second event in a series based on its source material.
Synopsis[]
(Please note: this event assumed that Aerith was chosen as Cloud's "secret date" at the Golden Saucer. The player's performance in the core game does not impact these cutscenes, nor is it reflective of the player's choices in Rebirth at the point in time this scene plays out.)
On what is to be a magical night, the Golden Saucer is set to stage a production of the popular play LOVELESS, with one lucky couple selected to play the leads. As setup is well underway, however, many of the actors are called away to perform other business, leaving nervous newbies Barret Wallace and Red XIII to stand in alongside Cloud Strife and Aerith Gainsborough. All are backstage rehearsing their roles. To Barret's surprise, Yuffie Kisaragi has dropped in on the group to smooth out rough edges.
With Yuffie's help, the actors finish their practice session, and are ready to perform. The play is executed flawlessly and receives thunderous applause. Cloud and Aerith are last seen in conversation on their way to the Skywheel before it closes for the evening.
Event rewards[]
In the vein of a Critical Threat event, players challenged either Dragon King Varvados, or his hellhound Garm, or both (played by Barret and Red XIII) to receive Silver Cogs, Golden Cogs, Gold Points tickets, and Boss Medals for use in the exchanges. Featured gear included the Sleek Saber for Cloud, the Járngreipr for Tifa, and both previous crossover event weapons. New wallpaper and Guild stickers based on Rebirth could also be obtained with bingo completion.
Featured draws[]
As with previous collabs, all Stamp Card draws were rolled out in volumes. Volume 1 included the Loveless Songstress ensemble for Aerith with Gambanteinn. Volume 2 added Yuffie's Wutai's Idol costume and Bird of Prey. Volume 3 added Barret's Dragon King Varvados costume with the Fafnir Rifle gun-arm. The campaign also offered chances to obtain Barret's Missing Score Ultimate Weapon. Reissues of all previous Rebirth crossover gear were also made available per volume. All gear must be obtained by exchange voucher.
Behind the scenes[]
This event required a 6-hour maintenance window, ending all prior campaigns ahead of the event start. When Volume 2 was added February 5, developers erroneously set the targets' stats higher than normal for the posted degrees of difficulty, resulting in these missions not being clearable. A fix was issued within hours of the fault's discovery.
