Kyokuho Moribe is a non-player character from Final Fantasy XIV where he acts as a supporting character in the level 60-70 astrologian quest line. Kyokuho is a geomancer hailing from Kugane.

History[]

Kyokuho traveled to Ishgard hoping to learn about Sharlayan astrology. After learning what he could from Leveva and the Warrior of Light, he was summoned back to Kugane and left as quickly as he came.

After the Warrior of Light sought him out there, he revealed to them that he was trying to mend the bonds protecting Kugane from a supernatural beast called Kinko Kugane. He had attempted to recruit other Hingan geomancers for this cause, but they dismissed him out of hand as a charlatan. His master, Murakumo, and the Warrior of Light, joined him instead to seek out and take down the minions of the beast. The trio temporarily restored the bonds, buying them time to search for a better solution. Kyokuho decided to leave for Yanxia, the place of his great grandfather's training, and discovered that the geomancers there once frequented a temple known as the Swallow's Compass, which he then sought out. After setting off a trap that the Warrior of Light quickly handled, Kyokuho discovered a few scrolls that he was unable to read, and returned to Kugane so Master Murakumo could decipher them. From the scrolls, they discovered the necessary rites, but also learned that to make the bonds permanent required the blood of a sacrifice, an option Kyokuho rejected out of hand.

Shortly afterwards, Murakumo went missing and was found injured near one of the shrines. When Kyokuho and the Warrior of Light arrived to aid him, Murakumo announced his plan to serve as the sacrifice for the ritual. The Warrior of Light proposed a different plan, which they explained with the aid of a newly-arrived Leveva, much to Kyokuho's surprise. Leveva announced that Kyokuho had overlooked the obvious solution: using astrology to soothe Kinko's anger rather than to focus on strengthening the bonds with geomancy. Once night fell, Kinko emerged in the center of the city before being calmed by the combined efforts of Kyokuho, Leveva, and the Warrior of Light. Afterwards, Kyokuho resolved to remain in Kugane for a time to help educate his former detractors, who had a change of heart after he saved the city.
