Kokonowa is a non-playable character in Final Fantasy XIV. He and Ellerete are the members of the Passage of the Unbound who stole the Heartsting. Kokonowa is one of the antagonists during the Healer role quests in the Dawntrail expansion.
History[]
Before Dawntrail[]
Ellerete and Kokonowa were among Apyaahi's guests who joined her villainous group. Although only Ellerete was present at the meeting, one of Kokonowa's mammets was accompanying her during the reunion. Apyaahi revealed the existence of sacred artifacts around Tural. These artifacts contain the essence of fearsome beasts called Tural Vidraal, and said that with the power of the artifacts they could achieve their goal.[1]

Following Apyaahi's instructions, Ellerete and Kokonowa managed to infiltrate a village in northern Xak Tural and stole the Heartsting, a relic capable of controlling all types of toxins. When Nyipine and Loashkana left the village to recover the treasure, Ellerete and Kokonowa ambushed the two, and a mammet inflicted severe injuries on the Nyipine's foot. Escaping their pursuers, Ellerete and Kokonowa fled to Limsa Lominsa and began using the treasure to cause several incidents of blindness.[2]
Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail[]
After successfully deceiving Wyssulm and Zerig into purchasing tainted potions in Aleport, Ellerete found immense amusement in watching Zerig suffer from uncontrollable hiccups due to the toxins. When Loashkana and the Warrior of Light arrived just in time to rescue the adventurers from danger, Ellerete made her dramatic appearance. She gleefully taunted her pursuers, taking pride in her role as an agent of chaos. With her characteristic flair, she introduced herself and Kokonowa, mocking the adventurers for their plight and boasting about her experiments with poisons. After toying with them long enough, she vanished into a cloud of foul smoke.[3]
Later, Wyssulm and Zerig spotted Ellerete and Kokonowa in Upper La Noscea near Bronze Lake but they were forced to retreat by Kokonowa's mammets. At Camp Bronze Lake, Ellerete poisoned the springs with a hallucinatory toxin, mocking the chaos she caused. However, she fell victim to her own poison, laughing uncontrollably as she admitted to forgetting the antidote. Despite her blunder, Ellerete escaped with Kokonowa, hinting at larger plans for Vylbrand. After healing the victims, Loashkana noted Kokonowa's immunity to the poison, linking it to the Dunesfolk tradition of ingesting small amounts of toxins for resistance.[4]
Ellerete and Kokonowa resurfaced in Costa del Sol, causing chaos by poisoning a bottle of wine given to Gegeruju. Later, Loashkana and Warrior of Light they encountered several mammets in the region, one of which held crucial notes detailing Vylbrand's waterways. Ellerete and Kokonowa ambushed they. Before escaping, Ellerete vowed to play her final trick on Vylbrand.[5]

Determined to contaminate the Mudstop Watergush, one of the main sources of fresh water in Vylbrand, Ellerete and Kokonowa invaded Brayflox's Longstop with an army of mammets. Desperate Brayflox Alltalks quickly notified the Warrior of Light and Loashkana asking for help. The arrived duo rushed to the location to confront Ellerete and Kokonowa, battling through mammets and facing the two miscreants in the heart of the Longstop. After a fierce fight, the Heartsting was reclaimed, and Ellerete and Kokonowa were accidentally blasted away by a gobbiebomb.[6]
