Kids on Patrol is an Odd Job in Chapter 8, "Budding Bodyguard", in Final Fantasy VII Remake, taking place in the Sector 5 Slums. Cloud Strife and Aerith Gainsborough talk to Ms. Folia at Leaf Home.
Completing this quest makes "A Verified Hero" become available.
Walkthrough[]
After talking to Ms. Folia, she will ask the two to find the children around the Sector 5 Slums. Five are found in the following locations:
- Outside the community center talking to an old woman and some girls.
- In the southwest corner in a tunnel.
- By the weapon store of the Center District.
- In the eastern end of the Center District, close to the item store.
- In the north past the Center District, at the southern tip of Station Way.
Most kids have a wooden buster sword replica on their backs, though one carries a nail bat.
Aerith will note after all are found. Return to Ms. Folia, and the kids will mention a toad king near the hideout. Head to the Underdeveloped Land, and the monster can be found in the Toad Marsh in the northern part of the area, where "Danger in the Hideout" was completed. The 
Ice Materia should be equipped on both characters, and can be paired with 
Elemental Materia, to fight the hedgehog pies and hedgehog pie king, the main target.
The hedgehog pie king summons several smaller hedgehog pies for backup, and provides them all with buffs. Their Bounce attacks must be avoided or guarded against to prevent stunning, and the smaller Hedgehog Pies can be defeated first. After this, lay into the hedgehog pie king with 
Blizzard or Blizzara to stagger it, then burst it down with damage. After this, return to the Leaf House to complete the mission. Cloud will obtain the 
Nail Bat weapon, and the next quest, "A Verified Hero", is unlocked.
Hard mode tips[]
The enemies are more durable than before, though the usual ice materia and elemental materia combo is still effective on Cloud, especially when used with Triple Slash. Subversion Materia can be useful to cast Breach and defeat the enemies quicker, and Aerith can use Arcane Ward with Blizzaga to defeat the hedgehog pie king. If she does this, it should be paired with HP Absorption Materia or MP Absorption Materia for sustainability.
Defeating the hedgehog pie king rewards Aerith the Telluric Scriptures Vol. VI.
