Khury

Khury Wezette is a playable character of War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. Known as the Lofty Despot, he is the dictator king of Wezette. He is known for his talent in archery and does not have any trust for his subjects who have revolted in the past. He formed an alliance with Leonis to create a buffer between Wezette and Hourne.

Profile[]

Appearance[]

Khury is a middle-aged man of white skin and silvered hair with some traces of facial hair. He wears a golden adornment on his head, a suit of armor with several layers of winter clothing befitting the cold nature of Wezette, coupled with clothed pants. He has a small chained belt with a golden medal featuring a humanoid figure, although it is not fully discernible.

The left side of his arm carries a massive blue floor-length layered mantle. On top of them a golden patch featuring the symbol of Wezette, white fur on his shoulder, and some golden strands tied to a golden shoulder plate. His right shoulder has a more modest protector, although it is mostly noticeable for the upper half of his signature Glacier Bow, a blueish and highly decorated bow he typically wears on his back.

Khury has ambiguous laterality, as he is depicted as left-handed in his in-game sprite, typical of most Ranger characters, while shown as right-handed in some artwork. In some story cutscenes, however he adopts a left-handed posture outside of his Ranger pose. This suggests that Khury is ambidextrous, leaning more towards his left.

Personality[]

Khury is a power-hungry despot who oppresses his people, many living in fear and disgust of him. Khury is an intelligent tactician and cold schemer who is always planning ahead and thinking how and where his enemies will move next, a philosophy he extends to his archery; he has a notoriously deadly accuracy as he always aims where he predicts his foes will be.

For all his cunning, Khury trusts in no one, paranoid of even everyone close to him. Even the alliances he makes are purely self-serving and he has no qualms about breaking them if he deems it convenient. Ruthless and elitist, Khury tried to force Glaciela to kill her family as a requisite to succeed the throne as he wanted to cover her being the daughter of a concubine to avoid being censored politically. He has no love for anybody, as he let his successors to the throne kill one another. He even ordered the massacre of several innocent civilians purely because they were in some way affiliated with the rebels trying to usurp him.

Typical of a despot, Khury values obedience over loyalty, and dislikes opposition of any kind. He has been known to kill his advisors, even his closest ones, in fits of anger over being contraried, even when he ultimately pursued the same advised actions. Disobeying Khury despite not being under his direct command, can warrant fatal reprisal, as he once almost killed Ranell when she wouldn't obey him due to obeying Melnia.

Khury is extremelly powerhungry and obsessed over his authority and position. When cornered and betrayed, he lashes out irrationally believing his enemies to be after his throne, while defiantly stating he won't ever allow anybody to claim it, much to the disgust of his foes who are left baffled at Khury's narrowminded and heavily self-centered view of reality who cannot comprehend how he cannot think outside matters of political power.

It is hinted throughout the story, that Khury did also undergo an equally cruel sucession process like the one he made Glaciela endure, which may explain his attachment to his throne as he had to fight both for his life and to prove his worthiness, effectivelly continuing what is insinuated to be a bloody history of betrayal and scheming that has tainted the kingdom for generation. His attempts at forcing Glaciela's hand at familicide, are thus, likely a means to mold her character into a cruel, merciless and resolute one that he believed to be the desired traits of a ruler. Ultimately following his defeat, Khury seemingly made peace with Glaciela as he was left baffled with her rejection of the throne while vowing to help her nation not as a regent, leaving Khury expectant of the new era she would bring for Wezette.

King of Wezette, who is also known as an archer of extraordinary skill. Ruthless and suspicious of others, he has little trust from his subjects, who have revolted numerous times in the past. He formed an alliance with Leonis only to have a buffer zone between Wezette and Hourne.

Character description

Khury is an MR-rarity unit of the Ice element whose main job is Ranger, while his sub jobs are Dragoon and Green Mage. He can equip the following items: Bow, Hat, Clothing, Accessory. His unit cost is 50.

His Master Ability increases his own Max HP by 15%, his Initial AP by 10 and his AP Acquisition Rate by 30%. He has no limit burst.

Khury is an average unit in terms of abilities and stats, though he has some interesting niches. Being a Ranger, he attacks from afar with missile type damage, which combined with his Dragoon sub job can bestow him with not only an ATK buff through Dragon's Kin, but increased Jump and Move, which is a boon for him as bow-users gain increased range the higher they are positioned on the battlefield; this attribute can only be exploited on maps with high elevation. His Green Mage sub job has some support abilities, although none are particularly noteworthy.

One of Khury's defining traits is his high level of AP. Via his Master Ability, Khury has increased initial AP and can generate high AP in battle. His ability board also gives him additional range, allowing Khury to attack from afar and use powerful abilities faster than most units. His Master Ability and some of his support abilities can bestow him with extra resilience to compensate for his normally frail bulk. Being weak to both Slash and Magic damage, he is at a great disadvantage. Equipment-wise, his Glacier Bow is perfect for him, although it may take a while to acquire, and bows are not a common featured weapon in events.

On his EX Job development, Khury gains even higher AP, and becomes the first unit to be able to inflict the Frostbite status ailment that siphons AP from those afflicted. He gains a powerful buff that increases the ATK/MAG/AGI of himself and units around him, although he still suffers from low HP and ATK.

A stately bow with detailed decorations befitting its owner, the dictatorial King Khury. Wielding the bow is extraordinarly difficult, and even the slightest of unintended adjustments can make it inaccurate. Despite this, Khury's arrows fire swiftly, lightly, and lethally across long distances.

Glacier Bow description

His Trust Master Reward is the Glacier Bow weapon, which bestows HP +136, ATK +82, CRT +18 and Ice Attack Up 15.

Sharpened Concentration
Sharpened Concentration from WotV vision card

Sharpened Concentration.

King Khury of Wezette is well known for his skills as a bowman. "The art of the bow," he says, "lies in predicting every situation and focusing—dare I say, sharpening—your senses to the utmost degree." Doing so will lead the arrow where it was meant to go and ensure that one's quarry is rightfully caught. Even when presiding over his kingdom, Khury looks not only at what unfolds before him, but what lies beyond as well. It may seem that Wezette engages in acts to the benefit of its enemies—or even to the betrayal of its allies. However, this is simply Khury using his sharpened senses to truly see where dies are already cast and where they can yet be molded. Many consider Khury both cunning and calculated, though just as many praise him as a rare and benevolent king.

The Four Warring Lords
The Four Warring Lords from WotV vision card

The Four Warring Lords.

Among the warring states of Ardra, there are four kings said to stand above the rest.
There is King Robb of westerly Hourne, with his vast dominion and great military might, who is known to be a broad-minded man. To the east is King Khury of Wezette, who is prudent yet high-strung and governs strictly over a frigid land, and whose kingdom has since many generations prior been in an antagonistic relationship with Hourne.
Between these two nations is Fennes to the north—ruled by the violent and bold King Muraga—and Leonis to the south—ruled by King Oelde, who has established a presence despite governing a small nation thanks to his resourcefulness and strategic ingenuity.
These four nations preserve a balance nigh miraculous, and while there has yet to be a major war to date, the equilibrium is now gradually collapsing as Lord Sadali of the Crystal Sanctum begins to take action.
