Unlimited Episode 25

Kaze: The Glory of Life

Kaze: The Glory of Life is the final episode of Final Fantasy: Unlimited.

Story Detail

Prologue

FFU Episode 25 - The Hayakawa Parents, Zombified

"It's Mom and Dad! What's wrong with them?"

The opening teaser shows the lost travelers, all imprisoned in the palace of Gaudium. Ai opens her eyes and realizes that Yu is alive. Lisa awakes as well. "Hi," greets Earl Tyrant. "You stupid Earl!" shouts Ai. "You'd better untie us right now!" The earl says he didn't have to save her, calling her something else. She then spots her parents and gasp. They look over at her, but don't seem to respond. "It's Mom and Dad! What's wrong with them?" "It's who?" asks Lisa. The two are shown and their eyes have the form of bright lights, as if they've been zombified. Joe calls it a weird day, odd that they suddenly "acquired these two kids out of the blue." Marie calls it very strange and Ai wonders just what they're talking about. "Professor Hayakawa!" shouts Lisa. Ai is distraught that they don't even recognize her and Lisa urges her to calm down. She can tell that there's something wrong and the two are being controlled. She asks what's happened to Knave and the Comodeen, but Oscha just laughs and lies that "the submarine and everyone in it met their fate at sea." Ai, broken up by this idea, can only sob. It is then shown that Makenshi has been tied up with the others as well and so has Kaze, the two Unlimiteds together. After several moments of silence, the opening introduction is skipped and the final title card is shown. "Kaze: The Glory of Life."

The Ingredients for Dessert

FFU Episode 25 - The Earl, Seemingly Triumphant

The face of evil.

Just watch.

Events return with the earl in full-frame, giggling meanly. He says that he hasn't killed them because he's going to have them help him out. "Except for the really cute one," comments Herba, referring to Lisa. "She was brought because I thought I might hughug her later for fun." Oscha tells the Hayakawas that they're counting on them and they respond with a "yes, sir." They say they'll use them as ingredients and make the best tasting dessert ever. Oscha says that it's been a great deal of work raising Chaos, but the time is finally right, thanks to Makenshi. Joe switches on the "main switch" and it reveals a structure, with Clear entrapped in a bubble. Ai recognizes her old friend and the earl explains that Clear is actually Omega's heart. Herba explains that even Omega is powerless if it's closed in by the Flying Water. The Hayakawa parents explain this as being fully supported by the physics of Wonderland. Oscha continues that once the pieces of Omega are reunited, he can plague the outside world with Chaos. That's what they had planned, but the earl's new plan is to merge with Clear himself. Yu asks what he means. "Just watch," responds the Earl. They begin the process and Clear is zapped with energy. Ai yells for them to stop, but the process continues and Clear is transformed into an Omega crystal.

Power, Sealed

FFU Episode 25 - You Can Forget About Calling Any Summons

Crux sends Soil and Mist to its doom.

You can forget about calling any summons.

Earl Tyrant

A glint appears in Makenshi's eye and he is able to summon his Maken weapon. The earl, however, reaches out with a tentacle and grabs it away, impressed that he still had enough strength to do something like that. He says he leaves him no choice and he hurtles the Maken at him, stabbing him through the gut. Makenshi moans and the earl tells him to be quiet. "Say goodnight," comments Herba. Kaze awakens. "White... Cloud..." he gasps. Yu runs over to the earl and pleads that it's enough. The earl, the sadist that he is, is simply thrilled with Yu's upset. "He has complete disregard for the well-being of others," realizes Lisa. Ai pleads with Kaze to "do something. Take him out with your Magun." Oscha orders Crux to come along and feed Chaos. Crux seems to hesitate. "Do it!" orders Oscha, and Crux instead empties a bag containing numerous Soil bullets and containers of Mist into the swirling orb of Chaos. "You can forget about calling any summons," teases the earl. Lisa asks just what all this is about. Oscha explains that they're going to destroy the outside world to obtain its energy for Chaos. "You don't mean our world, do you?" asks Ai and Oscha clarifies that she's exactly right. Ai pleads with PoshePocket to give her anything that will aid in destroying the monsters, but PoshePocket is unable to do anything because his mouth has been taped shut. Then, one of the hughug flowers eats PoshePocket. Herba says that it found it disgusting. Ai screams and sobs. "If only I could use my Kigen Arts," muses Lisa. Yu again pleads with the earl to stop and the earl seems to realize something, something that Oscha has known all along. The earl says that he and Yu are going to unite, together with Yu's sister. "I think that's an excellent plan, don't you?" Oscha states that Ai and Yu are excellent ingredients for feeding Chaos. Ingredients that will force Wonderland to evolve. "Why us?" asks Yu.

Origin

FFU Episode 25 - You Are Totally Different Beings

"You are totally different beings."

You two were found in Wonderland and taken to the outside world.

Oscha

.Oscha says they've been awaiting the day when they would be old enough. It turns out it's all been part of their evil plot. They lured in Ai and Yu with the Subway and tracked them using the transmission device attached to Chobi. "We tracked you like a farmer does to his grazing cattle." They controlled their journey to Gaudium through various predicaments, making them excellent ingredients. Yu asks just why they did it-- he thinks it's a lie. "We're just regular kids!" shouts Ai. "No, you're not," explains Oscha. "No, don't," shouts Lisa, but Oscha continues anyway. Ai and Yu were originally found in Wonderland and taken to the outside world, where they were adopted by Joe and Marie Hayakawa. "You are totally different beings." Ai asks what he's saying-- that they're not even human? Ai wonders if that means they're not even really the Hayakawa children. "That's not true!" shouts Lisa. Ai and Yu sob and the earl says that Lisa shouldn't waste her time. As Chaos reacts, Lou Lupus and Moogle fly towards Gaudium. Moogle asks Lou's sure her snout knows which way to go and Lou agrees that she's sure. She can tell through her bond of love with Kaze that they're headed in the right direction. "Hold on tight, Mr. Kaze. I'll be sure to save you."

The Bond of Love

FFU Episode 25 - This Feels Great

"This feels great! This feels good! Eee!"

Professor Hayakawa, my name is Lisa Pacifist! I'm an agent that was dispatched to search for you!

Lisa

Ai and Yu are imprisoned within the contraption that transformed Clear into an Omega crystal. In another of the orbs sits the earl. Lisa pleads to stop the madness. Oscha orders Joe to transfer Omega's power to the earl. Lisa urges Joe to listen, to remember what happened twelve years before. When they lost their children, they adopted Ai and Yu and found a bond to support them. "Do it!" orders Oscha and Joe throws the switch. The energy begins crackling and Ai and Yu scream and twist about, but the earl surges with the flow of the energy. Lisa identifies herself as an agent that was dispatched to search for Joe and Marie. It's the reason she's been traveling with Ai and Yu, who believed their parents were performing research on the physics of Wonderland for the happiness of the people of their world. "They risked their little lives coming to Wonderland to search for you and you're going to kill them?!" Lisa's words seem to penetrate. Joe places his hands over his head and shouts, while Marie rushes over and throws the switch, shutting down the machine. "What are you doing?!" demands the earl. The Hayakawas, now fully out of their trances, now express dismay at the thought of what they were doing. A strange, worm-like creature comes out of Joe's ear, falls to the ground, and evaporates. Herba wonders how her "manipulative baby" could have stopped working. "That's what I call true love," responds Moogle. Ai and Yu are delighted at Moogle's return. "We'll show you the power of love!" declares Moogle. Lou Lupus transforms into her werewolf form and howls, sending forth a burst of energy that partially destroys the contraption, though several of the orbs light up pink. Ai and Yu are free and reunited with their adoptive parents. They hug and express their love for each other. Moogle frees Lisa and Lou, still in her werewolf form, frees Kaze. She asks Kaze if he's all right. Herba, mad, sends one of her hughug flowers after the group. Before it can do anything, however, it wilts and from its mouth emerges PoshePocket, which then snaps out the flower. The nine-note victory fanfare plays. "Meanie!" cries Herba. "You're the one who's mean around here!" answers Lou. She howls again and blasts Herba with energy, sending her falling into the depths of Chaos. "That'll teach a sister. I can get pretty mad!"

The Earl's Revenge

FFU Episode 25 - Earl Dragon

"I'm going to have to eat you myself!"

Kaze, kill him!
"Do it for Lou!

Yu and Ai

A tentacle snakes forward and hits Lou, causing her to transform back into her girl form. Lisa, Ai and Yu run over and she weakly says that she's glad that they finally found their mom and dad. Kaze comes forward and Lou asks if she's "in his eyes." She promises him that he'll always be in his, forever, and Lisa, Ai and Yu sob emotionally. She closes her own eyes and a tear falls. The others all mourn her loss. The Earl's voice, distorted and amplified, chides them all for really being bad. Another tentacle appears and suddenly a whole mess of tentacles bursts forth. The earl has transformed into a massive dragon and promises to eat them himself, but Ai and Yu can only continue to sob over Lou's fate. "It's useless!" shouts the earl and a massive surge of wind and energy appears, trying to consume the party. Moogle says that he is losing his energy. Kaze, however, is still standing. "Kaze, kill him!" shouts Yu. "Do it for Lou!" continues Ai.

The Final Soil Charge

FFU Episode 25 - Essence of Lou

"Use my Soil."

Use me.

Lou Lupus

The Magun gives. Moogle shouts that it's been fixed and Lisa explains that this is Ai and Yu's power, the power to control the movements of the Magun. "It has moved," realizes Kaze. "Soil is my power! The Magun has thawed." The earl is simply amused, wondering just what he's going to do without any bullets. "I didn't have any the first time either," replies Kaze. "Yet, I reached Chaos nevertheless and then..." Makenshi awakens. "Kukuruyu" comes the sound of Crux, bringing a bottle of Mist to Makenshi. Makenshi removes the veil from his face and thanks Crux. The earl shouts that Kaze is finished and Ai and Yu plead with him to help them. "Black Wind!" shouts Makenshi. Holding up the bottle, he says that it is the Mist of his very soul. "I must play it! Symphony of the White Cloud!" Using it, he summons forth the Mist Dragon, rocketing towards the Earl-dragon and hitting him with a massive burst of energy. "What is this?" asks Oscha, who is trying to climb back onto the scene. "He's become just like Chaos from before." The earl shouts that they'll all perish and Makenshi, as the Mist Dragon, shouts for Kaze to do his thing quickly, while he seals Chaos. Suddenly, Kaze hears Lou's voice. "Use me," urges Lou. Kaze recalls how he once used Aura's Soil. "My sister," remembers Kaze. Rainbow light appears and a rainbow pillar bursts forth. From it emerges a Soil bullet shimmering with all the colors of the rainbow. "I don't care how much blood must be shed," states Kaze, "as long as it's used to destroy Chaos!" "Now! The light that fills up your eyes: Tears of the Rainbow." Moogle then tells Kaze to use his Soil. He steps forward and is transformed into... "The ultimate spirit: Soul Gun Metal!" Lisa realizes that the Soil is crystallized lives. "And finally..." states Kaze, stepping forth himself. "The Soil Charge Triad to use on you has been decided!" He transforms into energy as Ai and Yu stare in disbelief at what Kaze is about to do. "Do it," Kaze tells Lisa. "Fire me. The helix of my life-- Endless White!" Lisa then uses her Kigen Arts to transform herself into spiritual energy. She fires the Magun, shouting "Omega! Don't destroy... life!" The energies burst forth, summoning the ultimate summon, the Gun Dragon, Bahamut. The two dragons aim massive energy at each other, leaving the party caught in the crossfire. "Black Wind, Kaze," whispers Makenshi. "White Cloud, Makenshi," whispers Kaze. "Unlimited!" shouts the shattered Oscha as he falls into the abyss.

"When we meet once again..."

Fabula: "And what do you suppose happened to our intrepid travelers? Perhaps, someday, I will tell you, when we meet once again." Chobi flies forward, transformed into the Legendary Ciel. The anime Final Fantasy: Unlimited has ended, but the story continues. Final Fantasy: Unlimited After featured a continuation of the story in both manga and script form, while After Spiral portrayed the continuing adventures in a series of web comics.
