The Kaiser Knuckle is a weapon for Tifa in Final Fantasy VII. It can be purchased at Mideel. Though its stats are a little lower than other weapons' available to Tifa at this time, it has eight Materia slots, more than any weapon for Tifa other than her ultimate weapon, Premium Heart. As with all of Tifa's gloves, it cannot be thrown, and like most, provides Tifa an improved critical hit rate.

Obtained[]

Kaiser Knuckles can first be obtained in Whirlwind Maze in a treasure chest during "That Which Waits in the Northernmost Reaches". Later, it can be purchased in Junon for 15,000 gil after the player has the Highwind.

Mechanics[]

As the Kaiser Knuckle has a base Attack stat bonus of 75, the base damage for physical attacks when the Kaiser Knuckle is equipped is in the following formula:

where "Level" is Tifa's current level and "Strength" is her Strength stat. The Kaiser Knuckle also has an Attack% (Accuracy) of 110%, grants a +13 bonus to Tifa's Magic stat, and provides Tifa an improved critical hit rate of +1%.

Promotional render.

Kaiser Knuckle has moderate stats, with a lower Attack stat than her other weapons. Its main strength is providing eight Materia slots, more than any weapon for Tifa other than the Premium Heart. Although only two of the slots are linked, this nonetheless provides the weapon utility over other weapons.

As Tifa is better built towards physical damage (due to her high Strength and multi-hit Limits), and only one Materia can be paired with Support Materia, Kaiser Knuckle is best used by equipping several Independent Materia. Many Independent Materia, such as Counter Attack, can greatly benefit Tifa's strength for physical attacks, as can several Command Materia.

Although Kaiser Knuckle has lower stats than comparable weapons for Tifa at this stage, such as the Crystal Glove, if the Materia is used correctly, it can overall make her more powerful. However, when more powerful, well-rounded weapons for Tifa are available, such as God's Hand, Master Fist, or Premium Heart, Kaiser Knuckle is ultimately outclassed.

Etymology[]

Kaiser is the German title meaning "Emperor", derived ultimately from the name of Julius Caesar. Many languages use a descendant of the word Caesar to mean "emperor", such as Russian царь (tsar) and Greek Καῖσαρ (Kaîsar).
