Jump materia is a Command Materia Command Materia in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Its ability, Jump, costs two ATB charges and causes the party member to leap into the air, making them invulnerable for a brief duration, before landing with a powerful physical attack.

Each party member has a unique Jump animation.

Jump materia is introduced in Rebirth, and did not appear in Final Fantasy VII (beyond Cid's Limit Breaks) or Final Fantasy VII Remake, but did appear in is Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII-. Jump is based on the recurring Jump ability seen throughout the Final Fantasy series, typically used by dragoons, in which party members become invincible for a few turns while leapt into the air before crashing down with an attack.

Obtained[]

Jump materia is bought from Chadley for 70 Cosmo Region data points.

Use[]

Jump costs two ATB charges and causes a party member to go untargetable for its duration, before landing down with a strong physical attack (which will deal more damage based on the Attack Power Attack Power of the user). Primarily however, the ability is defensive. The ability is normally used to avoid a powerful attack from an enemy that would otherwise instantly KO them. Though other ways to resist these abilities can be used (such as Barrier Materia Barrier Materia spells), Jump will safely avoid damage completely.

The biggest drawback to Jump is its high ATB cost, which makes it harder to rely on in a clutch. The ability is best on party members who are evasive and can build ATB quickly, such as Tifa or Yuffie, though all party members can benefit from the ability to avoid attacks. The player can use ATB Boost to quickly top up to 2 ATB charges when they want to use Jump.

In theory, Jump can be paired with HP Absorption Materia HP Absorption Materia to add a heal to the attack, improving its defensive capabilities. However, this is an inefficient use of HP Absorption compared to using it on spells.
