Description
Jem Ring is an accessory in Final Fantasy VII that protects the user from Slow-numb, Petrify, and Paralyzed. Slow-numb places a countdown on a character that upon expiration inflicts Petrify. Both Petrify and Paralyzed prevent the afflicted from acting, and Petrify also flags the afflicted as defeated for Game Over purposes.

Jem Ring is a mediocre accessory, as Slow-numb and Petrify are rare statuses, and while Paralyzed is more common, it is not hard to heal the status nor does it last too long for the player to worry about. Therefore, the player may opt for other status-prevention accessories for more common or dangerous statuses, such as the Peace Ring or Fairy Ring. The Safety Bit is typically better to use when acquired, which trades immunity to Paralyzed for the more valuable prevention of Death and Death-sentence. The player can also use Added Effect paired with Materia in armor.
Jem Ring could be useful on the Battle Square against certain enemies, as petrification would instantly end the player's run, and Paralyzed can lead to an extended stunlock.
