Story[]
Act 2, Ch. 7: Respite's Authenticity[]
Sephiroth seizes Materia's throne, entitling him to godlike powers over the world of respite. He duplicates numerous manikins of Zack Fair before infusing them with Jenova cells, transmuting them into unstable but lifelike versions of the other warriors of light, complete with their memories and senses of self. He sends the imposters to infiltrate and demoralize the warriors.
Jecht, following the lead of the Warrior of Light, discovers Yuna talking to lifelike false versions of himself and his son Tidus. Amid their confusion a lifelike dark manikin of Zack, who had been resisting Sephiroth's will, draws his sword and strikes the false Jecht. As the false Zack explains that there are imposters among the warriors, the false Tidus and Jecht react with anger and confusion to Zack's attack. The conversation spirals into a full-on confrontation where the real Tidus and Jecht end up striking down their false selves.
