Final Fantasy Wiki

The Javelin is a weapon in Final Fantasy XII. It is the weakest spear. As the main weapon of the Uhlan in the Zodiac versions, its time of obtainment is closer to the start of the game than in the original version, and some of the other spears have been made available earlier to spread them more evenly. In the original version, its license costs 15 LP. In the Zodiac versions, its license costs 20 LP.

In cutscenes and her bestiary entry, Rinok wields the Gungnir, but in battle in both encounters she has the Javelin.

Aletap Rumors[]

The markets are astir with the news that a great storm of some duration has made it impossibly for the lands by the Eastern Sea to fish. When the storm breaks, 'twill be a rush on the waters. No doubt why everyone and his cousin is looking to get their angling supplies in good order. If you've any horn or foul flesh to be sold for bait, now's the time! Why, they're selling for as much as it costs to buy an imported javelin or the like, I hear. There's never been a better time to sell!

Vaan wields the Javelin in his attacks when not in EX Mode. Vaan's weapons are from Final Fantasy XII, and his normal and EX Mode weapons are among the weakest and strongest equipment in their respective equipment types.

Etymology[]

A javelin is a light spear designed primarily to be thrown as a ranged weapon. The javelin is almost always thrown by hand, although hurling devices do exist. The word javeline comes from Middle English and it derives from Old French javelin, a diminutive of javelot, which meant spear.
